Its funny to hear from Microsoft about the "high failure rate" of the 360 as they spent half of the last gen denying there was a problem (until they were threatened by legal action).

I go back even further, pong clones in the 70's were my first experience of console gaming. Followed by intelevision and then Atari 2600. Played Mario a couple of times on NES and SNES, hated it and haven't touched a Nintendo since.

Sorry, my mistake, it actually only sold 42,000 consoles, about 100,000 were made in total making it one of the worst selling consoles in history!

It could be the Pippin II ! Although I doubt it as the original Pippin sold less than 500,000 units. Did anyone here have one? Because I was always curious about them but never had a chance to play on one.

Here's the specs for the original Pippin (if anyone is interested). Please try not to laugh, it was a long time ago :-) http://support.apple.com/kb...

@Darth
The genesis was only called that in America, most of the world referred to it as the 'megadrive'.

Did you read the article? Thats what they said they're not doing.

I think the point is that there are far more potential casual adopters than there are gamers. The gamers are the ones who ask the difficult questions and demand answers, whilst the casuals just lap up everything they're fed.
Why should they pander to the gamers when by just saying nothing they are likely to sell far more bones. Casual adopters are far less demanding than gamers and easier to cater for. If they lose some of their hardcore gamers, so what? There's many more pot...

To be fair, kinnect was probably 'wired in' because there was a room full of people who could have caused it to misbehave with their general chatter. Some joker would only have to call out "Xbox turn off" and the whole production would have been a fiasco,,,, wait a minute, it was!

I know enough about the PS4 to know I want one. As long as it comes in at under £400 ($600), I'm not going to think twice about it. I pre-ordered in April, hopefully that was early enough to get one on release day.I've only ever sold one game (SSX, I got it with my PS2 and didn't like it one bit). I do buy second hand games but if there is some form of second-hand game DRM, it won't bother me too much. There's already a number of free-to-play games at launch, killzone...

I respect edge more than any other video game magazine.10/10 should be a rare thing. Its calling something 'perfect' which you shouldn't do unless you mean it.

Hey microsoft, can you clear up a few of the questions that remain with regard to the Xbox one?

Major Nelson: "Yes we need to do better in terms of being clear"

Well thats cleared that up then!

Bad article, ill-informed statements. Apparently the two consoles are pretty much identical. "same RAM", same blu-ray drive etc. Don't waste your time reading it.

Thats one point of view. But if the Greenlight system is broken, then you are only going to hear about the great games that made it through the system, not the great games that didn't. Popularity is one measure of a games worth, but its not the best one.

If I make an average game but have an army of friends on facebook, I'm more likely to be accepted than if I have a superb game and no facebook account. The system may seem to work because you are seeing good games flo...

Don't change Dark Souls!! Its about the only challenging game out there. Reminds me of the eighties in terms of gameplay, an era where games tended to be far more difficult to finish than they are today.

@chocolatesnw
That's exactly what happened at Sony. They asked the developers what they most wanted to make coding easier and the response was 'unified RAM'. They said that they didn't want to swap code around or have to use eSRAM as it slows development of games. When Sony started the project there was only 2gb of GDDR5 allocated to the system, because there is a unified memory pool, you can simply replace the ram with better chips as they became affordable, hence the...

@Sway_z

Some games are internet only games. They will require an internet connection. Duck based games will require the disk ala PS360 for verification. As with PS3 now, if you don't register on PSN after a while, your PSN bought games will deactivate until you sign in again. This however takes weeks or months ( I noticed after 6 months). The bottom line is !!! Don't buy internet only games or buy games on line IF YOU DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET!!! Follow th...
