Another mediocrity trying to get famous by being controversial.
The real question is why is PS3 outselling the Xbox360 by a big margin (33% more in the last six months) despite the following factors:
-When XBox360 launched there were no competitors, it had the market to itselfs
-PS3 costs more (upfront, although if you factor in $50/yr for Xbox online play, the Xbox360 ends up costing a lot more)
-Xbox360 has a larger installed base which helps increase sales because friends usually get what their friends have
-PS3 has to co...
Why not just get GT5 which has better graphics, better physics (at least better than Forza), and runs at 60fps.
Still, if they have managed to get this game running at native 1080P despite not having much background in PS3 development I'd be quite impressed.
There is also some truth to what the guy said about 30fps being good enough for many consumers. However, 60fps is much better and for those who appreciate real driving physics where even the weight transfer is p...
... despite the higher price and the fact that significant reduction in parts cost is very difficult for Microsoft now that they've had to give up some ownership of the hardware (after the 33% failure rate debacle) Microsoft's gaming division will have to be willing to lose even more money in order to beat the PS3 in parts cost. It's much easier to go from $399 to $299 than from $299 to $199, particularly if mid-way you had to change your hardware design (and give up some control over parts...
When the Xbox360 reaches $199 Microsoft will learn why the online feature of the original xbox failed to win people over from the PS2 even though the PS2 didnt even have online. People who are waiting for the $199 price point are not willing to shell out $50/yr (or 25% of the console's cost) for online. Unlike the "hardcore" shooter fans, who are also the type who happily pay $600 every couple of years to upgrade their PC graphics card, most consumers are very sensitive to being n...
Sales in the last 6 months:
Wii: 8M (266% more than 360)
PS3: 4M (33% more than 360)
360: 3M
The only console that's actually doing worse than before is the 360. In fact, if you look at the same 12 month stretch in the lifecycle, the proportion of sales is just about exactly the same which suggests (but does not guarantee) that the 360 is the least liked by the consumers and by quite a margin. Doesnt look good for Microsoft.

It's amazing that Toshiba can think that they can get away with marketing this upscaling dvd player as a competitor to blu-ray and price it higher when a cheap panasonic 1080P upscaling dvd player have been available for $80-$90 from best buy and such for a very long time.
Something's happened to Toshiba. It used to be one of the most trusted brands. Now everything (including quality and integrity) is taking a nose-dive.
They call him Krazy Ken but his PS3 is outselling the Xbox360 and Blu-Ray smashed HD-DVD and is already cutting into DVD sales.
As explained but someone earlier, the two pools is better than a unified pool. It's harder for developers but has the potential for better performance. That's why you will never find a gaming PC with unified memory. Unified memory is for laptops and other less capable devices. True hardcore gaming PCs always have two seperate pools like the PS3.
When the Xbox360 was released there was no competition.
When the PS3 was released it had to compete with two other consoles.
Yet, the PS3 has sold 33% more in it's first 18 months than the Xbox360 did during the same period of it's life-cycle despite sporting a higher price tag.
Clearly, consumers are seeing much more value in the PS3 than in the Xbox360.
Furthermore, Xbox360 sales have been inflated by people having to buy a second or third...
Lifecycle comparison (month 6-18):
Wii: 19M
PS3: 9.7M
360: 6.7M
Year to date:
Wii: 8M
PS3: 4M
360: 3M
Analysis
-Wii sells twice as much as PS3.
-PS3 sells 33% more than Xbox360.
-Xbox360 continues to be dead last.
Maybe the rumored Wii-clone controller and price drop will turn things around for the Xbox360, which continues to struggle to compete.
Nintendo is back on top. <...
Forza 2 was truly mediocre.
Physics: The physics is better by far than the original which had such bad physics that they made tracks much longer than real-life to keep the lap-times from being too short. Still, even in Forza 2 the cars still don't properly simulate weight transfer during cornering and the graphics just dont convey that sense of mass. Good physics doesnt require a lot of processing power (even the XBox360 cpu can handle good physics) but, clearly, their algorith...
It always amazes me. Halo 3 and Gears received very high marks despite having various problems and limited appeal.
Halo 3 is totally lacking in any kind of innovation and sports mediocre graphics and frame-rate.
Gears had better graphics than halo 3 (small environments and low polygon counts helped) and did a good job fleshing out the 3rd person shooter concept but has a mediocre story and has little appeal outside of a small group of consumers.
Forza 1 was mediocre. Very poor physics (they actually lengthened the tracks to keep the lap times from being too ridiculous) and poor graphics.
Forza 2 was also mediocre. Physics were improved (still not GT5 quality) but atleast the tracks weren't as bad as last time. Cars still dont have the right feel, however, which suggests that the physics is simply not right. Graphics are dreadful for a current gen game. Lighting and shadows are all wrong because they are baked in....
It had potential but MS cut too many corners and tried to scam customers by making them pay extra for things that should be standard. Now it's come back to bite them.
MS should have made a hard-drive standard, have built-in blu-ray and wi-fi, provided free on-line play and made it so that you can use any brand peripherals, not just over-priced Microsoft brand stuff. They also tried to be too "smart" (read penny wise pound foolish) with the hard-ware design and manufac...
The only console with "bragging rights" is the Wii. The xbox360 is dying a slow and painful death.
In the last 12 months:
PS3: 9.7M
During the same period in it's life-cycle:
360: 6.7M
Of course the Wii rules them all:
Wii: 19M
In the last six months:
PS3: 4M
360: 3M
Then theres Wii!
Wii: 8M
So going by the numbers:
Wii se...
People ought to do their research before mouthing off.
In the PS3's first 31 weeks (a year ago) it had sold about as well as the Xbox360 did in it's first 31 weeks despite the fact that when the Xbox360 launched there was no next-gen competition. This is why all those people who said the PS3 was selling slowly were idiots. To match the 360's sales performance despite having a higher price and more competition is a really good performance.
At 31 weeks from launch: ...
Given the success of the Wii, maybe Nintendo is on to something. hehe
Here's a bit of info about Jade Raymond from Wikipedia:
Graduated from McGill University with a Bachelors of Science in computer science. Degree in fine arts.
-Programmer developing educational games for IBM
-Consulting in Microsoft’s Advanced Research Group
-Programming games for Sony
-Producer at EA
-Lead producer of Ubisoft Montreal
Clearly not just a brown-noser. She knows what she's doing. McGill is one of the top universit...
Jade Raymonds job is to brown-nose in order to promote the game. If you aren't a brown-noser then 1) you wont be able to keep your job (looks at Jaffe) and 2) you wont be able to do games promotion. Jade Raymond doesnt brown nose any more than any other successful professional in the games industry.
Not only did a number of PS3 games get omitted from the list and a bunch of el cheapo 360 games (such as monopoly!) get added to inflate the 360 list the premise and analysis is 5th grade quality.
The number of games, number of exclusives etc are all meaningless. The games that sell consoles are the few really good ones.
The only meaningful list is current and upcoming console exclusives that are certain to sell 4 million.
Everything else is just filler...
