Playing through it again right now and it's SOOOO laggy. There's gameplay vids of DA:I running on PS4 and it seems to run just fine.
Most of the gameplay shown so far has been in the Hinterlands surrounding Redcliffe. The terrain there is mountainous. But if you look at some of the older videos, you'll see wide open deserts (west Orlais) and a wide view over Lake Calenhad north of Redcliffe.
@starchild
Two wrongs don't make a right. I've never tried to justify console gamers who bash PC gamers/gaming.
There's distancing, and then there's insulting.
Was just going to say this very thing when I read the headline.
I totally agree that console bashing is disgusting. It's immature and totally ignores the many and various reasons that millions buy consoles rather than PCs. A console is a legitimate and very often more practical gaming option than a gaming PC, the power advantages of a gaming PC notwithstanding.
Nah - a studio this small probably won't be able to bankroll a disc release or collector's edition. Would be cool though. Maybe No Man's Sky 2 ;-)
The idea would be a limited run of disc-based copies with some sort of collectibles, like a ship model for instance. I doubt it's feasible from their perspective - I'm just saying that I *would* spend a lot on a collector's edition of this game.
That's kinda what I'm hoping, but they've said it's not one contiguous map - it's composed of a number of separate 'regions'. All I've seen size-wise is the claim that the Redcliffe region is 'bigger than all playable areas in DA:O combined.'
I will throw hundreds of dollars at this company if they release various special editions of this game.
As is mine. Playing through all previous games at the mo to set up my world.
Do we know how big the world is yet? A previous vid shows a map ranging from Orlais to Fereldan, but excluding Antiva, Tevinter, and everything north of the Free Holds. And within that area there's been no clear statement yet of size. Are we talking bigger than Skyrim, for instance?
@Th4Freak
I'll give you some of those, but Ryse, Halo, and Dying Light don't look better than this.
And Aloren's point doesn't accurately reflect what the original commenter said. The original claim was just that this is one of the best looking games he/she had seen. This is entirely compatible with those games you mention looking better. But you accept that in your comment implicitly, so I'm not really disagreeing with you.
It doesn't look *exactly the same, but it's still excellent. Here's a number of areas that have been downgraded:
- reflections/glints
- atmospheric particles
- textures (visible on Notre Dame's roof in this vid)
- building models (e.g. slate roofs were far more 'bumpy' in the original shots)
- character model complexity
Game still looks amazing in my opinion, and the downgrade is nowhere near as much as ...
The graphics have been downgraded from the initial footage, which bothers a lot of people, particularly those on PC/PS4. The parity scandal is also feeding into it, as it the Watch Dogs fiasco.
But to me, this game looks beautiful. There were a few small complaints I had about the graphics in the video, like Notre Dame's roof texture and the drop in quality on the other side of the Seine. But these are MINOR complaints. Overall, the graphics were very impressive and a def...
Playing through all the prior games and DLC at the moment in preparation for this (reminding myself of the story, setting up my world state). Ah, the memories...
Bookmarked! Crazy useful. Will have to check it repeatedly throughout the Thanksgiving period.
This. Looks. Amazing.
Exactly. And the prevalence of this 'objectification' should make everyone question the legitimacy of the term 'objectification.'
They pretty much already do suffer that attack.
It's well worth it. I'm playing through them all again at the moment to prepare my world story. A very rewarding series.
