Performance mode is erratic so its frames jump all over the place, according to Digital Foundry its very distracting so I can see why they would prefer to play it in 4K.
They really don't know how to be any other way, but they found GoW 4 can get people to their site so they are going to milk it for all its worth.
They have to get hits somehow. ;)
Quarter to Three really are review trolls who should be taken off Metacritic for their obvious charade. They gave Horizon Zero Dawn a 60 yet Agents of Mayhem a 100? They purposely give very low scores to good games, yet hand out 100 scores to terrible games. Maybe they will surprise us though and give GoW 4 a decent score.
Exactly right, with Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, and now GoW 4 at the top of the list. It is possible to make a game with excellent graphics, game play, and story but Microsoft just cannot seem to do that on the Xbox One.
This is the perfect description for the Sea of Thieves, the water looks amazing but the game literally has nothing more than that.
There is potential here no doubt, but it needs a lot of work to achieve AAA quality.
There were a few skeptics on YouTube saying the GoW game play change was bad, bet they're singing a different tune now.

With Nvidia's Volta architecture being released this year, we should hope the PS5 will be more than 11 TFLOPS in power. The PS5 should be 12 -14 TFLOPS at the minimum when it first releases. Perhaps it should start at 12 TFLOPS and go up to 14 - 16 TFLOPS later with the PS5 Pro. However, if the PS5 original started out at 14 TFLOPS that would be a very nice surprise.
You are not in the minority, most Xbox One "exclusives" come to the PC because Microsoft shot themselves in the foot with that decision. It is also worth noting there aren't very many good exclusives to consider the Xbox One as a must have console.

Both IGN and Digital Foundry said the same thing that performance mode is unstable so the frames jump between 40 - 60 during battle sequences. This can be very distracting, so for most it would be better to play at 4K with an almost constant 30FPS.
