Nintendo proved that the future of consoles/hand-helds lies by combining the two together. The Nintendo hybrid system despite its low tech has gotten more third party/indie support than both the wii and Wii U combined. The hybrid system is the only way for handhelds to thrive. Sony doesn't need a handheld, Sony needs a hybrid system like the Switch. Is not a viable business to have a separate console with a separate handheld system anymore.
I see no point in another Xperia type phone that failed miserably. A Sony hybrid system like the Switch is more doable. If the PS5 is not only more powerful console but allows you to take your games with you on commute, that right there will make a killer gaming system.

Parents failed to protect their credit cards/debit cards. Failed to explain their children about lootboxes. The problem is most parents are clueless when it comes to videogames (they still think videogames are like yesteryear aka Mario Bros). That's what missing in this industry common sense. Look at Steam or GOG they are very gamer friendly but game developers choose money over anything else. My worry is Google does the same with Stadia meaning if game developers put their games on Stadia they get 80 percent of profit/revenue for say game and decide to go with Google Stadia over Sony
If Google Stadia pulls an Epic like maneuver then Stadia will get more game developers on board due to their greediness and loath of gamer freedom. Steam is more gamer oriented and so is GOG but all the greedy game developers choose the least end user friendly Epic Store.
It hurts but you are right about early access. It boggles my mind how PC gamers are willing to pay for games in Alpha without receiving at least 10% for every copy of the game sold once it goes gold. There is very few PC exclusives that can wow a person in terms of graphical fidelity. For that.
I have no problem with competition but Epic is making sure they are the only storefront to have games like Metro Exodus. I cannot buy Metro Exodus on Amazon, GOG, or any storefront other than Epic store. Valve never had exclusives to begin with.
