You're right, I meant the limited edition. We didn't get the legendary edition. I realized that I wrote that after you mentioned it. However, I think my comment was understood. As for the replacement, they opened the cheapest version (the DVD case) and gave ti to us. Thanks for looking out though.
I completely understand that MS pays a manufacturing facility to produce the product, but I don't agree with the design of the packaging. I picked up 2 copies that were pre-ordered, one for me and one for my friend, last night at midnight. The problem is not the tin case it comes in, it's the fact that the disc is just placed in there with no sleeve. This leaves the clamps of the cover, which slide into the groove of he body of the tin, to rub up against the disc. My problem is that MS design...
I couldn't agree more. As for competition, I'm not quite sure that's what's going on. The way MS has marketed and approached the industry has made this industry messy. Paying ridiculous amounts for exclusive contents, not fixing the obvious hardware problems, and dumping a ton of money with toshiba for 18 month deals with movie studios is actually unprecedented. To some degree, they are flooding the market, a bit like they did with Internet Explorer, and the newer Windows Defender and source ...
Relax buddy. You're completely right, without the last word.
In regards to the fight having not yet begun, you are 100% correct. Sony' market share, when including the PS2, completely overshadows any numbers MS can show. This console war cannot be based on 11M units sold. The PS2 sold over 100M and I think Sony knows that this is the number they have to achieve to launch PS4 with a smile on their face. Even if MS thinks that Halo 3 will double their sales, that's only 22M units...
Yeah, I have to agree. It can't just be a recap of E3 + Dual Shock 3. Why even throw the event. Also, what happened to the 40GB PS3? Price cut? Spiderman 3 Blu-Ray? I'm a bit confused right now, but Sony always has cards up their sleeve.
Hirai just said no surprises this year --> Now I see something big coming. Either today or on the 25th.
Question 1 (7:33 p.m): Seriously, is Halo 3 gonna be the talk of TGS? Something is off. The competitor's biggest title is ...
Take it from a lawyer, that's not how it works. Technically you are not signing it either. If you want a lesson, they are offering you terms of use (the offer), and you are accepting their terms (acceptance by click). They have a logo on the game, the title, etc. That acts as a signature. If you don't agree to the terms, you are allowed to return the game (media) to the manufacturer (Microsoft) within a certain time. I thing MS is 60 days. If you agree to the terms, then you are licensed the ...
Please read my post above. If you want to compare other factors, add the PS2 to your counts and that's when Sony actually looks better. The problem, as I've stated above is that the U.S. is carrying the X360 heavily right now. MS can hope this will last, but it will be really hard to sell at the same rate for years to come. The PS3 doesn't sell too well right now becuase the PS2 is still out and is dirt cheap. Once the PS2 is dropped, which will lead to dramatically lower prices for the PS3, ...
I agree with the numbers you have, and it shows the current strength of the X360. However, a few things need to be taken into consideration. How long can the US support the X360 numbers? In Japan and the rest of the world, Sony is still selling the PS2, which is still selling about 200K units a month. If you factor this in, then the numbers skew towards Sony. The difference between the X360 and PS3 is that the X360 is selling huge in the US but not elsewhere. The PS3 is selling relatively the...
I think the point he is making is that with development over time, you get growth and degrees of richness at each level. Right now, the developers are giving PS3 owner games that are pretty good. Next year they will come out with better games, etc. Under your statement, software should never evolve, which we all know it does. Buying, for instance, Windows Vista, you will not gain the full benefit of the product now, since a lot of development has not been geared towards Vista quite yet. When ...
I agree, but the japanese people are a bit more knowledgeable with what they purchase. They don't just go out an buy Sony because it is a Japanese company, they tend to buy things that are the best in the industry. But "best" has many meanings for the Japanese. There are many American companies, i.e., Apple (Ipod) which is more prevelant than any other brand in their corresponding sector. Frankly, I think Nintendo and Sony have left no room for the X360. If the Japanese want a hardc...
but this author is centering everything on the Playstation, which is completely the wrong way to characterize Sony. Sony is the Apple of the mass market. Sony products aren't limited to the PS3, BR, or Viao notebooks. Last I checked, they are one of the mass market leaders in TVs, car audio, home entertainment, movies, etc. Yes, the whole world knows you pay a premium for Sony products, but like Apple, you get quality and cutting edge technology. People need to stop this Sony bashing, because...
Correct! Thank you! Finally someone that knows what they are taking about.
FYI - Sony products don't miraculously appear on the competitor's exclusive products without the developers wanting it on there. How would Sony pull off adding their SecurRom in media without it being programed in there? Even if they have done this before in the past, what bearing does it have on games that supposedly will never touch a Sony product? The answer is nothing. Sony's SecuRom is being licensed for this game and that's the developer's doing.
But their quality is unparalleled. Mostly in their TV's.
Is not losing as much as you think they are. Most people still believe that they are losing $200 a system which is completely false. Sony themselves said that they plan to break even next year. Well, that implies 2 things. Cost of manufacturing has gone down substantially, and that at the current price point, they will make a profit to offset the loss they had on past systems. They maybe making a profit now, and noone would know. It does not mean that they will be selling the console for the ...
You can only do the same things so many times. One week is good for me.
Even in terms of computers, there are generations. Just because a current machine may be able to play almost all games available, doen't mean there aren't generations. We've come a long way from punch card readers, the ENIAC, and vaccum tubes, DOS, Windows 3.1, 64mb ram, etc. The difference is that the computer industry is always evolving before our eyes and everything is seemless. For the consoles, we get new ones every 5-7 years and they must absolutely outdo their predecessor. This gen has...
There is always a next gen to the current generation. Ask Intel what they thought of the 8086 processor when they released it? Then what did they say when when the Pentium II and II came out? Then the Core Dou? The difference is that for a game console the most visible difference to consumers is what they can see, the graphics. The majority of gamers (common gamers) do not understand the techical specifications of a console and the components they are made from, which are fairly remarkable fo...
But to clarify, you can actually use the 150 toward the current purchse, so it can drop the PS3 price by 150. It's not just for accessories.
