but it is being made by a respectable developer (WayForward) who have a pretty good track record, and to be fair the game isn't pretending to be the next canon entry in the series. It may look way too different from what any Silent Hill fan is accustomed to, but let's see how it turns out. It could surprise us.
Oh, and Downpour is ace. It needs to be patched, but it's ace.
Wandering around the town looking for side-quests and random buildings to enter is pure joy.
America lives to fight another day.
American society will crumble.
Y'know, keep the foundation of the story there, but make it more gamey. Have some gunplay, explosions, an interactive sex scene or two involving Mr Darcy and some crack whores, and throw in the occasional slide puzzle every now and then. BAM! You've got yourself the highwater mark of video game storytelling. Ebert will hang himself in shame.
As long as installing it helps improve the performance of the game itself then I don't care.
Nah, just kidding - I imported this s**t. Can't wait to play it... whenever that might be. My copy is probably travelling over the Atlantic right about now.
has convinced me this game will be well worth my time. I want a quintessential survival-horror experience, and there's just very little of that to go around this gen, but Downpour seems to deliver it. I don't consider IGN a trustworthy source and if their main issue with the game is the combat then that's fine. because combat in Silent Hill was always lacklustre anyway; it was kind of the point. You're an everyman, you're prowess with a weapon in high-intensity situatio...
No you're not, I thought The Room was pretty bad too. Definitely the worst ranking out of all the Silent Hill games I've played (all except Origins). A lot of folks tend to conveniently forget how crap it was just because it was made by Team Silent, but I haven't forgotten the burping patients, possessed wheelchairs, presonality-free protagonist, pain-in-the-ass inventory system, giant-sized escort mission in the second half, revisiting all the locations again in the second half...
but fingers crossed their review is reliable and representative of the game's overall quality. I really want Downpour to be excellent; there's just not enough survival-horror around anymore.
Completed it on the 360 - one of the worst games I've played this gen. People says it's "so bad, it's good" but that only really applies to the first half or so. The further you get in the story the more serious in tone it becomes, while simultaneously getting sillier and more overblown... a lot like Quantic Dream's Fahrenheit actually, but with botched gameplay. The combat sections become way more frequent as you progress too, and anyone who has played the game w...
makes the game worth playing. One of the greatest actors of this generation for sure - he's fearless.
Oh and... Enslaved is awesome.
They look nothing alike, end of. If anything, new Dante kind of recalls that Hayden dude who played Anakin in the Star Wars prequels. But Tameem? Lulz, that's just clutching at straws.
The abundance of shit that game got wrong is practically stratospheric.
I really hope she's the protagonist for QD's new game. The tech demo itself was wonderfully executed and managed to resonate with me. If a 7 minute vid like that can get an emotional response then I can't wait what Cage has in store when the game comes out.
this will be a momentous occasion. Tres excited.
I wish I could erase the whole trauma from my memory, but alas it is here to stay.
those things are pretty beastly.
