Bang for your buck and the PS3 wins hands down. You want a dedicated machine for every little thing you do (movie playback, cd/mp3 player, game machine, PC) than I guess the PS3 isn't for you. However, I like that all I need is one machine to watch hi-def movies AND play awesome games.
The cell is best explained by having seven separate processors. It's not rocket science that if you are utilizing the cell as a single processor that you aren't going to get the best results. N...
HD-DVD has 'climbed' to only being outsold 3:1...
That's a win if I've ever heard one...
But the 'complete' game won't be available until at the earliest this holiday season, possibly not until 2009. I'll have moved on to FF13, Gears 2, KZ2, LBP, and Alan Wake by that time...
How many great games came out on the PS2 in the 1st or even 2nd year? I owned one through that and I can tell you it was slim pickins'. If you think in 3 years the PS3 will be obsolete you are kidding yourself. The PS2 isn't obsolete and it hit the market over 7 years ago. I'm not saying there won't be a PS4 (though I highly doubt there will be one before 2012, maybe winter of 2011), the PS3 won't be obsolete as long as devs want to develop for it and Sony will support it w/ their 1st par...
Wii is creating a completely new market that has never bought consoles before. I actually think they are 'losing' market share they had w/ the Gamecube, but are more than making up for it in this super huge casual market goldmine that they found.
Seriously, what hole have you been living in... Sony isn't losing exclusives, they have 20 1st party development companies. That means at least 20 exclusives. Most third parties are going multiplat to make the most money possible, so in the end 1st party games are going to be most of the exclusives. Sony has more than M$ and Nin combined.
Why go out and buy a product when all the cool new games are coming out on other systems? You think Sony sold as many PS3's because of what is out now? Obviously not. So if hype helps sell machines, why not provide some for those eagerly awaiting a gem next year to get an even bigger userbase? The 'anti-hype' argument is weak at best. I mean they didn't hype Halo at all and look how many machines that sold...
It's called Unreal Tournament...
j/k, but not really, what more do you want?
1st off the 360 userbase isn't 'that' much bigger in Europe.
2nd the 360 doesn't have any good exclusives w/ a for sure date yet.
3rd Sony can match any price drop that M$ does because, as we saw this year, they have no qualms about losing $$ on consoles since most of their $$ is made on 1st party games.
4th Sony did more than not die, it thrived and did better than the 360 did in its first year w/ stiff competition and 'no games'.
What has been announced for th...
But M$ shipped 10 Mil consoles last year and have shipped 17 mil consoles this year. That means they shipped 7 mil this year (M$'s own numbers) while the PS3 shipped over 8 Mil this year. Granted M$ stuffed the shelves at the end of 2006 to pad their numbers and hit their target, but just like entering the race a year early, bumping your stats to look better one year makes you look worse than you actually did the next.
Do you not remember when the PS2 came out? Dreamcast was blowing it away for the first few months of release and most gaming sites wrote the PS2 as too expensive w/ an unnecessary DVD drive w/ 'jaggies' and 'slowdowns', no games...
I wish I would have put some $$$ on the Giants, because I could have gotten some friends to lay me better odds than vegas...
pretty sure your 360 has to be able to turn on to use the add-on.
From numerous reports it is damn near impossible to find any HD-DVD's there and from what I know most AU don't even know there is a format war as it's all BR. I've seen it here before, so while the price cut may be news worthy, it will make no difference in the 'war' there.
Anyone who doesn't see this as the PS3's year has either been under a rock for the last 3 months or is in complete denial.
But doesn't the DVD drive in the 360 upconvert?
I put this on a few other boards, but in case you missed it the similarities are amazing:
