You know, while I vigorously disagree with your general opinion on PC games being shovel ware, It's true, for me anyway, that Rage was underwhelming.
I have buckets of respect for Carmack but for what I expected from this game, the end product what underwhelming. A reputation is not enough to save it, of course this is only my opinion.
It's not the best looking game on consoles, It runs at the 60fps he reassured which is a big positive for it. However...
I know, I only bought it when it came on steam as a deal.
Didn't have a PC capable of gaming back in 2007
Look great, too bad I already own this game on teh PC.
Max it out, but I never finished it. I lost my save (Thanks Steam!) maybe I get back on it.,..
@gamingdroid
Your quoting David Shippy?
I have no problems with this but he has let it been known before that he thinks more performance can be leveraged from the PS3's multi spu architecture and that hardcore coders could perhaps get more performance from it.
Either way his opinions have been criticized, In his book he is vague and favours prose over precision. Giving off very strange impressions.

@iamgoatman
Hang about, that's just wrong.
Minimum specs on PC does not out perform console.
I have BC2, Crysis, COD on my PC and tried them on Minimum and to say that out performs console is just a terrible attempt to validate your arguments....
Also you misinterpreted DaTruth's comment,
He didn't quote you saying that the PS3's hardware is superior, he is pointing out that your comment basically implies the P...
Dark Souls is my GOTY so far.
I am a noob to the franchise but I am being more and more satisfied with every hour I play.
Best game this year IMO
Maybe this can put the pathetic rivalry between GT5 and Forza fans to rest....
A PC sim comes up from the rear and trumps them both, I love GT5 for the moment but I'll be in there with C.A.R.S as soon as I can....
They have a lot of work to do to beat GT5 though, all the best to them....
Good points, I always say there are more objective people on this site, unlike many would have you believe, having an opinion can get you painted as a fanboy more often than not..
Both are on the sim side of the spectrum as I said before, NFS/Burnout are arcade and labeling forza as one is wrong.
But when comparing to GT5 (as seems to be the one and only point of this all) then it's undeniable that GT5 pushes that further, it's more of a sim. But ther...
@TonyP
The answer to that is trivially clear, MS owns windows, so publishing games on their OS has almost no repercussion and as most gaming PC's use Windows. Its so obvious, to compare MS's strategy to that of Sony regarding the PC is almost nonsensical.
It is not the same for Sony and their exclusives, I can only see it harming the integrity of their platform were they to offer their experiences on another, much less on an OS that belongs to their m...
So disregard all the facts, state that everyone who owns a ps3 is a fanboy, blame the site because forza must be the better game no matter what.
Win?
Edit. Crew only got 2 agrees and 8 disagrees. Surly he would have got more agrees according to you. and you got more agrees so surely ps3 fanboys do not dominate this site, that's a fallicy I'm tired of hearing, fact is I see a lot of objective people looking at facts and giving their opinion. Then gett...
I would agree, but forza does lean more towards the sim side of the spectrum. It's not an outright arcade. That said when you compare it to gt5 and look at the facts objectively, provided you actually know how to interpret those facts, Gt5 is clearly more focused on being sim. And it accomplishes this very well.
The problem here is that there are some people who are either not content with forza being a great game but they also want it to be more of a sim than gt5.
One thing I constantly hear Sony reiterate at their conferences is 'experiences only available on our platform'
So the business strategy should be quite clear to anyone.
That said I've always wanted to bump up Uncharted to 1080p and 60fps.
@disagrees What? really? you don't think it would be cool if done well?
Do you people have any imagination what so ever?
You know, a third person game on the scale of BF with the same graphics would actually be epic...
He's always been like this.. Have you played uncharted 2?? he bleeds out only after train crash/climbing the train/fighting enemies/sub zero temperatures, all with a gaping wound... Then he wakes up in that village and my favorite part of that game....
Its great, ND are not trying to be realistic I think, I really never associated them with realism. They just try to make it fun.
same here, I know very little about it..
then again, who reads the terms and conditions right??
I could have agreed to any number of clauses like this.
I'm not worried personally.
Half Life, Portal 2, Uncharted 2
Great examples of how linearity can be good.
The game changes when it becomes open world.
(although an open world uncharted would make me all kinds of wet)
@baodeus
Irony and hypocrisy runs deep among gaming fans.
I think the Forza vs GT thing brings out some of the worst in fanboys from all camps.
OT: My opinion is similar to the rest though unfortunately, I chose GT because it's a racing simulator, 24 hour le mans just would not be the same without the sun slowly setting and the lights coming on when it gets too dark...
I always expected forza to have these features, It genuinely surprises ...
Its funny actually that Gears and Uncharted are two games that can not be criticized in their respective articles.
The fans will destroy you.
OT: this is the best looking console game no doubt.
Its true you cant pin the mediocrity of rage on Carmack alone, however he cannot run on reputation forever. Yes he did invent the FPS genre, but it's a different game now with different players.
He owes it to himself to show he can still create something new and fresh, which Rage was not.
