The oculus setup I gave was a minimum spec, complete pc package with a HD monitor. Add another £200 for a killer 4k monitor to go with it and then we have a very similar offering.
To answer you question as to why PS needs a 4k tv? Because that is the only way you will ever see 4k...
There should be reinvigorated sales for Oculus when the touch ships later this year with something like 30 touch enabled games.
It is a seriously expensive set of options for a new adopter of either tech.

Vive
Oculus
Xbox one S
Sony have a great holiday lineup of things to buy, but all three listed options offer, in some ways, more than what the PS family does. Both the VR options are premium product way outstepping PSVR and the Xbox one S does 4k Upscaling, UHD and has a 4k Blu-ray Player.
There are many toys available to the gaming masses this holiday...

I do believe that having a bechmark 4k console is a good idea. As it can then ride the 4k wave till the next big thing.

Fallout is all about the Mods.
Broken, glitchy, often pointless but sometimes magical mods.
This is specifically about fallout. They wanted to bring mods to console for a long time, with All the caveats in toe.
Doesn't matter if it makes the game better or worse, its about the freedom to mess around.
