Ok MS you have the hardware. Now put back the high quality, remove microtransactions, and commit to better than last gen worthy gameplay and longevity in your games. All your PR guys talked up specs to bring us bigger, badder, and better worlds and we haven't seen anything beating anything from last gen. Sony is smoking MS in the console race 1st parties because they focus on such things.
No more bullsh*t.
It's not about being stupid. It's about quality, self respect, and having damn standards. So no, the clearest message is done by hurting their wallets. And in case you haven't noticed, publishers have millions invested in data scientists hard at market research who are keen on capturing that "I'm too smart to get suckered" group that's avoiding them. They penalize those not drinking the kool-aid.
There is a reason the game breaking microtra...
Not if we dont buy the games. If you do, be ready for more of this predatory monetization since Microtransactions are gambling bets. It'll leave you with same empty feeling in the end if you don't win - all to unlock what was already included in the last 40 years of gaming. Even worse, avoiding them means being penalized in a full priced game and when the next game comes next month or year you have to do it all over again.
The bets always favor the house.
Definitely supporting the devs by buying this game again.
The PUBG people are not developers and they simply designed a level using purchased assets, which doesnt make their game any less of a game, but the problem came because they have been unable to evolve their game (the common complaint from the big audience streamers).
They did do work were they could, making it a cash machine. Now evolving your game in the gaming industry means publishers applying a mobile model and cashing out with ads and microtransactions, especially no...
I bought GoG (DRM-free) version.
Given the rollercoaster of marketing tactics this gen, not preordering and will be anxiously waiting on independent, don't-give-2-fooks-if-blac klisted reviewers like JS, Karak, or AJ. If they say they are great then I'm throwing money at these titles. God I miss the days of pure, top effort in optimized demos. Looking forward to Mario, Evil Within 2, Asscreed, South Park, and Wolfenstein 2 - all except the Tolkien abomination which I shall not refer to as a game, but a predatory m...
GaaS is MS's version of rebranding microtransactions. Bethesda rebranded theirs as the Creation Club and Activision rebranded theirs as Tess Everis and others. ALL publishers in the AAA Mafia are trying to find that acceptable microtransaction magic pill where we just give in and it dependably sticks with us just like we finally accepted paid online, DLC, and Season Passes.
So no, it's not acceptable in any game done by any company. NONE have ever proven microtra...
About time us gamers started waking up and taking off our flashy game goggles to realize where this has been headed since this gen started. I keep saying that publishers have had a whole entire gen to show us the value of in-app purchases, and each and every time they have proven to be nothing more than the predatory monetization of what has usually been freely earned in-game, adding no additional value.
Mid to Hard Core Gamers (like us spending time on a gaming site) are ...
Yup I remember when it was all branded "DLC" and the name caught on in gaming sites and marketing. The DLC name repeated over and over has been a weird name to me ever since because it simply represented downloading files -something that was done every second on PC at the time like breathing air. But brand something that's commonplace and repackage it and marketers can fool people into accepting their price gouging - like Whole Foods and their Asparagus Infused Water.

The man speaks the truth, speaking from experience. Glad to see this posted here to support his growing channel. Another independent gaming enthusiast spreading a great pro-consumer message and unwilling to suck up to publishers.
ACG's review is out and Karak said they nailed it in the right places (graphics, sound, and fun). Though it is a must buy for the Xbox, he said there are technical issues for us PCers (imo intentional to market their new console). Since I'm on PC, I am going to wait for a sale until they work out the kinks like FH3, which I am sure will happen once the xbonex sales settle.
Its just about fun. Without passionate enthusiasts who love high tech toys and the engineers pushing boundaries, technological advancements would become stagnant since it would only be based strictly on necessity and not the exploratory curiosity to see if "we can do it".
An extreme example would be that going to the moon was not really required, but humans wanted to race to see who could do it first. Because of that race too the moon we had tons of leaps in tec...
Out... side... What is this outside???
Philip K Dick's toll door in Ubik.
This guy should feel empowered right now because of having the offer (even if they didn't see eye to eye). Someone will surely offer to hire him. If not, then he should start his own thing. This guy's portfolio is great enough to catch a 343 offer up until they noticed he wasn't a "kool-aid" drinker, and you want people like him who get critically passionate about your employees, projects, and IPs working for you - even if he gets testy. He wants your company and IPs...
Would like to see a PC release like other Xbox games. I mean Xbox fans would like to include everyone they can right? Given the shouting about crossplay and all.
Naughty Dog always sets the bar higher and saves singleplayer gaming in many ways. Given that the quality will be there, here's to hoping the game is just as long as the previous game or even more lengthy.
People ranting that since they don't have time to play or there are "too many games" or games should be shorter for them definitely don't speak for all of us. I have a busy career and wife and kids too but I definitely DO NOT want these expensive g...
I think the writer is confused. Brand wars are meant to drive ad traffic. The marketers at paid-off gaming sites, publishers, and most companies are the primary instigators of arguments using finely crafted and skewed misinformation. They create brand fanatics and this inevitably creates opposition.
A discussion needs to start there first. While we can band-aid the symptoms, the root causes must ultimately be addressed.
Exactly, and MS is going to flick the real money switch on their extremely game-impacting microtransactions after refund periods end just like they did with Forza 6 - unless responsible consumers stand up to them. Respected and unafraid independent reviewers not sucking on publisher teet or governed by their blacklist trolls are calling this game out for its predatory garbage - just like they did with NBA 2k18 and Shadow of Gambling.
Only diehard MS fanboy youtubers and pu...
