I don't care about Tekken so I'm naturally inclined to prefer Capcom's incarnation, as would Tekken fans be inclined to Namco's.
Having said that I believe Capcom will do a great job. They already made two Tekken characters who I do not care for look relatively cool and natural in SF's 2-space gameplay. Also, there is some amount of gameplay change as that one Tekken guy bounced off a wall after being hit, which would not have happened in SSF4. Also, Capco...

That's a bit different. DC Universe doesn't have a fighting game engine that needs to be compensated for.
In a case like Capcom vs SNK, those engines needed to be changed up but they're both technical 2D fighters so it worked out well. MK is quite different from SF in comparison, and it lacks that high level of technicality. However, it is certainly not an impossible task, even if they did just make one title instead of doing what Namco and Capcom are doing now. O...
MK has gone back to 2D with its latest title, so it is definitely not impossible. Hell, Tekken was a bigger leap and the decision was to simply make two titles.
An MK crossover probably wouldn't need to go that far, but if they did just make one game the combat engine would suffer as it'd amalgamate two very different game engines into a bastardized one -- so that's something to consider.
This is entirely my opinion but I would say BlazBlue: Continuum Shift.
I love SF4/SSF4 but I feel that BlazBlue has an extreme uniqueness to it in quite a few ways:
1. The story mode is actually not complete garbage, which is something I have never seen in a fighting game.
2. The fighting engine is very technical, but it does not have anything as technical as a one-frame-link. So the combos are still tough, but not as tough as SF, and because you can ...
This is old. These announcements were the ones he just made.
Those tweets existed before the conference (this news article is dated from yesterday).
Damn, I wanted to know who the new SSF4 characters were...grr don't wanna wait till September :(
People need to realize that this game is developed by Capcom mostly for the Street Fighter fanbase.
If you prefer Tekken's combat system (for whatever reason), Namco is releasing Tekken x Street Fighter which will more than likely be a 3D, Tekken 6-like counterpart to this game for Tekken fans.
I think this is a good move, as Tekken fans will probably not want to adapt to the SF fighting engine and vice-versa. Personally I would only consider this game if...
I want more VC on PS3. Do it Sega. If you did not buy the first, just do it. Even if you hate strategy games and RPGs. This game is just so special -- I like neither of those genres and this is a contender for my favourite/most enjoyed PS3 game. The real-time shooting element sets it apart from anything else you'll play in a similar genre, not to mention the absolutely fantastic, utterly impeccable visuals.
Yeah I just can't see the editor on the console versions. But hey, they're still getting the game. I'll be curious to see how it looks on both consoles, I'm guessing somewhere between Medium-High settings, or perhaps a console-optimized low res version of High with perhaps some Very High things like sun shafts. I can't see anything like high level POM or shaders on the console versions, though.
Personally I'm hoping Crysis 2 will incorporate the character development improvements from Warhead, plus the better flow of combat and area progression, with the length and scope of Crysis. I agree that Warhead's final boss was a bit more of a mini boss, but it makes sense since it is just a side story and not as important as Nomad's mission.
But yeah, man, I'm pumped for Crysis 2. It'll be nice to see how much better optimized the CryEngine 3 is as well -- I mean, from Crysis t...
Valkyria Chronicles is a brilliant game and right up there with SF4 and MGS4 as my three stand out titles for PS3. As an exclusive title, for me, it stands next to MGS4 as one of the definitive PS3 titles. It is a damn, damn shame for it to do so poorly in sales. And here I am hoping for a sequel as well. This game is worth full-price, and even at the discounts it was being offered at, it still didn't sell well. Such a shame. Oh, the DLC was amazing too -- some of the best DLC offered this ge...
Personally I thought Warhead was much better than Crysis. The only thing Crysis has on Warhead is that it is longer and more fleshed out, but in any case, I prefer Warhead's characters (Psycho, Emerson, O'Neill) to Crysis's (Nomad, Prophet, whoever the hell the commander is...). The pacing is better as well, Crysis had a lot of areas with "weird" pacing, I felt. In any case I enjoyed both titles a lot. Can't wait for Crysis 2.
Good review.
The layout is not "more classic." This is simply the American layout. I'm assuming the gate is circular, and the stick and buttons are Happ. I'm still waiting for the MadCatz TE to come back in stock as I'd prefer Sanwa buttons and the Sanwa stick with the square gate (better for SF4 charge characters IMO, and Z inputs like Shoryuken). The only thing I prefer about this stick is the American button layout (straight), but the TE allows you to do that since the last 6 buttons on the T...
I personally find this image to be hilarious.

I am relieved to see Selvaria's bust remains of grand quality in the anime.
"Cons
Unlocking of the characters "
Are you ****ing kidding me? Fighting games should ALWAYS have unlocking of characters, and for boss-type characters (Seth, Akuma, Gouken) it should be harder than just playing through the game. Yeesh...what a BS complaint.
Besides, you can do the unlocks on Easiest. I could understand the complaint if it was mandatory on Medium or above (some characters I can't for the life of me beat the game on Medium with).
The in-game list is complete but what you must note is that it will not list advanced combos (unlike many non-technical fighters with easier combos). To learn combos, the game has a Trial Mode NORMAL and HARD for each character in Challenge Mode where you can learn some of the more intense combos. You'll find them easier with an arcade stick controller but even without my Hori I managed to pull off some of Cammy's with the DualShock. They're hard, though. I saw a video of a Japanese player pu...
Looks like Bit Tech couldn't get past Seth on Easiest. Probably broke their controllers/sticks in anger too.
Um, I set my HDMI on my *TV* to Full range and the black background IMMEDIATELY looked much better. I switched it back to see if I could notice the difference, and it was much duller on Limited.
Rather than just assume things, switch between Full and Limited with a relatively black background on your PS3 and see if the black looks darker on Full and dull on Limited. If you notice no difference or it looks worse, stick to Limited.
Capcom is making SF x Tekken.
Namco is making Tekken x SF.
The former is 2D and plays within the spectrum of SSF4's fighting engine, and the latter presumably plays in Tekken 6 style.
So in other words, the Tekken characters in Capcom's game will be Capcom's version of the Tekken characters, and vice-versa for Namco's game.
This is probably the best choice, since SF4 fans will choose Capcom's version and T...
