It's not a console, it's a platform. It may include the WiiU and more.
For what is known QOL could be a WiiU in a different package.
Sure, if you have kids and a 3 hour drive. Why not try it.
A PS4 would probably empty your car battery, but the WiiU is way less demanding and it's much smaller too. I fix it under the front seat in a small drawer and it even works around the car.
Off course it's a long trip thing.
If you have a outlet in your car it works like dream, especially with hard drive content. Battery is no issue if you invest in a usb cable which are fairly long. If you can fix the gamepad you can even play some wii games. It's perfect for the back seats.
If the WiiU version depends on the quality of the game (and it more or less will equal sales), I'm all for the delay. Remember the Collonial Marines fiasco. However we can expect the WiiU version will get zero promotion which will probably lead to zero sales...
You can get a usb cable for the gamepad or a more powerfull battery for e few bucks if you really have to play a game for more then 3 hours.
I agree with everything said. Nintendo sold 15 million games on the WiiU without downloads. Dedicated 3rd parties like Sonic racing, even ill handled Rayman did well, so is said for good indie titles. We can already predict Watch Dogs won't because Ubisoft does nothing to promote it. They are almost saying don't go for it WiiU people.
You can make or buy a car that can develop 500hp and ride 350 km/h. Why would you go for it, who and where will drive it is another question. If you do it just because you can, chances are you will never really use it's power. Let's just say every car factory makes cars that make sense to them and for their customers.
Nintendo should never stop making hardware. Why is that? Because all of their products are built to last to this day. It is a rare example in corporate business. Anybody that can't see it just didn't do the homework.
Love the concept. Hope they can bring it up soon enough, and collect some too. Great job guys.
Great statements friend. I suggest Pikmin3 first.
The WiiU is not clumsy. It actually is pretty fast and very manageable.'Course people that don't own it wouldn't know, and that is a marketing problem. The gamepad is however a gamepad and not a tablet touchscreen so it is not ment for the type of games the gentleman from the article makes. That's the same marketing problem. People still slash the WiiU for not understanding what it is.
You can hear it when it switches to Wii, and you can hear the optical disc drive when in full speed. I'd say it's quieter than any PC. Unless you live in a church or something...
If you didn't own a Wii go for it. You get to play all the Wii classics, and many are fairly cheap. The controllers aren't thought, and you'll want many of them if you have company to play with. The WiiU itself is much better then what is praised for.
Nintendo quietly sold about 13 million retail units of their own titles for the wii u. That's not counting the eshop of which we have no idea, but we can safely guess at least 15-20% more. That would be pretty good overall. The upcoming titles will easily double that number. Third parties are obviously underperforming, and need to adjust if they want a piece of cake. The cake is definitely there. I hope the indies can get some.
Ubisoft is certainly a rich company. But let's do some maths. They sold about $60 million worth of games on the wii u + about $120 million worth of games on the wii last year, and you think they will let it go? I don't think they will let go. They might want to change something in the approach to Nintendo systems, that's all.
I like it. A nice looking co-op adventure with smooth controls will do it for me. It's all you can ask from the franchize. And if there is quality, it's plenty.
Make a power console, let go the gamepad and motion control, use standard controllers, fill console with hardcore adult games, go third party with kid games, call your console gamestationbox, change name to Nony or Tendosoft, feel the love of the media and cash flowing?
