Sega and nintendo consoles werent simple at all for their time.
If a company fails to deliver stable hardware, like ms and sony did in the past, they just hurt themselves in the long run. I know i will think twice before i shell out money for sony or ms hardware ever again.

I never liked unlocks of any kind anyway. A good game doesnt need those artifical means and reasons to play it again and again. Other way round, if you dont enjoy a certain game's mechanics, dont play it, period.

This is not about who deserves what. This is just about money. Your money... There are people out there who copy their own original disks cause the drive wrecks their games. Ms knows this, yet they deny this to not be held responsible.

Some people like homebrew stuff. Others copy their own games because the dvd drive is slowly but surely wrecking their legally purchased original discs. Please do not call these people thiefs. Microsoft bans them nonetheless.
They ban randomly to not lose too many customers. They ban to scare the sh]t outta you; the customer. If their customer service didnt already do the trick that is. Not very clever, but hey its microsoft, they totally can do that.

Console red rings - it goes on ebay. Console wrecks the discs - it goes on ebay. Console banned - it goes on ebay. Funny thing IS people actually do go out and buy a new arcade 360. But i am pretty sure ms WILL feel the consequences with the coming generation. Neither sony is treating customers too well. Actually this would be a perfect timing for sega or anyone else to get the foot back in the door.
