Sony fanboys are pretty rampant on this site, but it's the Wii ones who are always best for a chuckle.
You took the words right out of my mouth. I might actually sign up for this game when it comes out.
@sidar
"O you mean people who want to feel special about their gaming habit and feel threatened when dear grandma is interested in a puzzle game?"
No, I mean people that like doing something often want to get a nice rig to do it with. Haven't you ever had a friend who plays guitar? I'll bet if you do that he or she is probably saving up for a really nice one.
Agreed. I think this generation they have stepped too far away from mainstream and hardcore gamers. lack of horsepower and substandard online performance are the final two nails on the coffin here for a lot of gamers.
Let's face it; anyone who considers themselves hardcore ANYTHING likes to get the best gear. You snowboard a lot, you probably have a nice board. People who bike a lot generally get nice bikes. Gamers who game a lot get decked out PCs and PS3/360's.

Just so you know, the Unreal engine isn't any more tailored to the 360 than it is the PC or the PS3. Even better, Epic claimed to have "maxed out the 360" with Gears 1.
Hmmmmm.....
This is one of those occasions where some no-name site takes an innocent remark heard at E3 like: "hey, we've really pushed the 360 to the max with our new game" and turned it around into something negative.
Sounds like Sony messed up announcing it as a "console exclusive."
Why would Square make an MMO exclusive to any one platform when that limits their subscriber base? That makes no sense...especially when the 360 has a better online system than the PS3.
I think the blame rests with Sony, or at least through a misunderstanding with Square-Enix.
@kornbeaner
You should check your facts dude. FFXI already runs on Live so this is an easy title to bring out for the 360.
There are like 3 games on PSN that use dedicated servers, everything else is P2P on the Playstation. Xbox Live has thousands more servers running it than the PSN, they're not all for hosting games however.
XBL is an "always on" service, PSN is not.
Perhaps they wanted to focus on the development of the new one.
It's illogical for an MMO to remain exclusive to one platform, especially when competing with something like World of Warcraft.
It's the logical thing to do, after all Live has already been modified to work with the FFXI servers, and that game was ported to every platform that could run it.
For an MMORPG, console exclusivity is just bad business.
This seems logical, given that FFXI was ported to just about every platform that could handle it, and Xbox Live has already been modified to talk to the FFXI servers.
Yesssss!!!
I was pretty psyched at the idea of Home when they announced it, but right now it just feels like an MMO with nothing to do.
Did anyone think these were real? that box is the shoddiest looking branding I've ever seen out of Sony
I'd love to see a new Strider, or a remake of RE2. I miss zombies in my RE game.
Well you guys heard about those new SPU-powered hat shaders, didn't you? By next year, Sony might even start rendering socks on the SPUs!!!
I think Bungie needs to be removed from the Halo series, not enough innovation coming from them anymore. Microsoft, please take a page from the recent Batman and Star Trek movies and reinvent this series.
April 2007 on Kojima's blog featured a Snake Vs. Zombies comic...and Kojima himself recently said what a big fan he was of Left 4 Dead.
Coincidence?
@scissor_runner
Shaders run on the GPU, not on the Cell. The reason the 360 runs shaders better is because ATI implemented a DX10/unified shader GPU before NVIDIA did. You can process vertex effects on the SPUs which might accelerate certain vertex shaders, but post-processing ops (which is what shaders are) are done on the GPU...to send them back to the Cell from the GPU would bottleneck the system.
@mastiffchild
Good points.
If I had to guess, I'd say that Turtle Rock had bigger plans for L4D1 but were forced to cut it back to meet their deadline. L4D started off as a HL mod and quickly evolved into a full-fledged game. This "sequel" might be the realization of a larger scale game.
I think that they are selling this as a sequel because they've made so many additions to the SDK that they can't patch the first game. I wouldn't be suprised i...
