I haven't undone my argument, pal. As I clearly explained, I'm using the same word in different contexts with (as explained) different meanings. But to clear all the confusion, if you simply exchange "Killer game" with "Very well crafted game" (the grapes we, the "gaming elite" (or whatever) love to taste that the fox won't reach) and "Killer app" with "Highly useful/desired app" (in objective terms; and in metaphoric terms, the grapes that e...
But I guess that's the only way for Microsoft to be able to compete as they're doing now.
"If we made a starting point when the PS3 launched and had the Xbox vs the PS3 at the launch of the PS3 and ended it today, The Xbox 360 would still be ahead."
That's a huge lie right there. The PS3 is three million ahead if you compare launch to launch. Isn't the PS3 more expensive and has a lot more negative Press anyway? Inferior port jobs, timed exclusives on 3...
The word "Killer" in "Killer games" is used to describe how great or well crafted it is according to most people here. Call them "Great games" if you will. Not all "Great Games" are "Killer apps" according to the definitions of killer app, capisce?
The word "Killer" in "Killer app", according to the definitions, relate to its usefulness or desireableness. Some great games, whether because they got great revie...
1. I never said Killzone isn't of quality.
2. I never said Sales = Quality.
3. I never said WiiFit is an awesome Killer app /facepalm again
4. I said a Killer app can be personal, so InFamous could be YOUR killer app, and it could be MINE too
Infamous may be a killer app, but only to those that rush out and buy a PS3 to get it; do you personally think people will go out in droves to get a PS3 due to infamous as they did with MGS4? Or with the fact that PS3 ...
I doubt it. Killzone 2 sold "only" a million in a month, I doubt infamous will surpass that. Shouldn't a killer app in terms of software be something that a very significant portion of the platform owners want and have or will have?
It could be my personal killer app, but if it doesn't make much noise in the radar, it won't be as popular in the mainstream as it is on internet gaming forums.
PS3's major killer app will be Gran Turismo 5 and perhaps God o...
Now that's news.
Oh that's right, I forgot. "bu buh but teh sales!"
"Has anyone noticed not a single 360 fanboy has made an arguement about the quality of the games? Not a single one, it's all about the sales. How bout we talk about the games? not the sales.... "
That's because none of these middle-school dropouts care about games. They care more about owning a game that "sells" rather than a game that is actually good. They think a game is good because it sells, which is funny because they somehow need that validation, and ...
Even third parties sell better on Sony's own platform. This doesn't mean anything to third parties, but who knows if Sony is satisfied with this. Maybe they are? Who knows. It does show that not that not that many PS3 owners cared. That, or rather, that PS3 owners are comprised by a variety of tastes, i.e. they're not mindless zombies that only care about shooting stuff unlike fanboys of some other console.
I do find it funny that Xbox fanboys are jacking off to this. Look at O...
PS3 had the same install base as Xbox 360 in the US, if Halo Wars didn't have "Halo" in its name, and if the first Killzone was universally acclaimed, which it wasn't.
We could be playing right freaking now! And if everything was digitally distributed, I'm sure beta testers would have made the process of finishing the game even faster! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The higher attach rate is because Microsoft sells more first party software, and the reason for that is huge amounts of advertising campaigns, especially for Gears and Halo. Sony may have a lower attach rate, but that's because they sell less first party games. They still make the same profit on their games because they don't advertise as much. And if you think Sony has no game selling in the "Halo" numbers, then you must have never heard about Gran Turismo.
PS3 may b...
I never said you were right or wrong, nor do I care. It's just evident that you're a fanboy, and being right for you is only convenient, but not necessary for you to make claims.
Both seem great, I'll get both probably
"Microsoft makes software and a few hardware devices, Sony sells TVs, consoles, music players, speakers, software, etc. You got actual data to back that up?"
He is a Microsoft cheerleader, of course he doesn't have any data to back that up. But then again, even if he has, do you think he cares? Data is only a convenience to him, not a reason.
But it can happen, so that's why I'm hoping that Sony adds PS2 emulation via a firmware update as soon as posible.
It's gonna be the same game, different story. If Rockstar wants to truly make an immersive and huge world, they should use a 50GB Blu-ray for their next-game.
Maybe the game plays like a next-next-next-next-gen game, but who knows.
Way to be grateful to the Monster Hunter platform
Just let me add a few things: the only measurable way to know if a great game was a killer app (a desireable app, by the objective definition according to Wikipedia and urban dictionary, not necessarily of subjective aesthetic quality but one that people wants or needs for some reason) may just be its sales and/or the sales of its platform (that would be something that reflects its desireability status, regardless of its quality).
If its platform is selling a lot and the game s...
