That's only because it is going to be a busy end of year for home console gamers. Some pretty big PS3 and 360 titles will drop this year so i expect the focus to be on the home consoles. Next year year however, the Vita and the 3DS should take the world by storm.
The money for me is not the issue either, infact the vita is so cheap that I don't even have to save up to buy it, I earn enough disposable income that I can just walk into bestbuy and buy it with a memory card and a few games on a whim.
However as a consumer and a vita supporter I can't deny the fact that vita just went from cheap to expensive.
That should shout some people up, until they realize that they will have to spend about $400 on a Vita day one if they want to have a game, long battery life, and enough memory to last a few downloads.
They started with the PS3 by using Bluray instead of DVD, i still to this day believe that bluray was mostly in part created to slow piracy, and of course to give devs the extra space. Sony wont take a risk with tech that's been on the market (hardware) for a certain period of time especially if its all ready been hacked, if they did they would have stayed with DVD's. I have to admit, this was most likely done to kill piracy, which was possible on the PSP because of the removable battery, so again Sony made a system around protecting the platform from hackers, and rightfully so, piracy killed the PSP. Like we always say, piracy will hurt the consumers and the industry in the long run.
Ok the battery life on my Iphone 4 is about 4 hours playing games like Game dev story, angry birds, and cut the rope. Now if i load up rage or need for speed my phone only last about 2-3 hours, so considering what the vita can do and the type of high def game it can play ill say that the battery life is fine, people just expect too much from technology.

Man I wish Sony could drop an rpg once a month in Japan. That's how you corner that market, with rpg's. Why did so many devs turn their backs on traditional RPGs when sales like this are guaranteed.
Just speculating here, but the long wait is mostly likely because it is being ported to 360 but in secrecy. Microsoft and SE could have made a deal behind closed doors to delay the PS3 version until the 360 version is complete.
I agree, but its not only that, very much likely that Sony knows that for a new launch you don't want people to pick and choose between a new system and whats already on the market. In other words you would want your item/device to be the only thing on peoples minds, this is impossible during the holiday season because people already have a budget and stores are promoting so many different items so your device might go unnoticed or buried under all the Christmas hula.

I tried the 3ds at GS a few day ago, white the graphics look great the 3d is very gimmicky, also the fact that there is only one stick on the 3ds unit. Vita it is for me.

I agree, but for me, its a cheaper combination to get a Vita and a Fire, than a Vita and an Ipad. So apple will get screwed more than Sony will.
