The 40GB ps3 NEVER received any sort of price cut.
Not a single retailer near me had any 40GB at the time the 80GB was released and honestly, 10k sales isn't much to brag about since the ps3 has been beating the 360 by 25k+ units
One of the most ignorant comments ever, NOBODY will be buying a 360 for Gears 2, the entire Gears fanbase is already has a 360. Same with Resistance.

Most games don't have installs or have optional installs, and most installs are 1GB or less.
I can get a 320GB HDD from New Egg for $100
I could also get an external 500GB for $100
Both would last an insanely long time.
And I know this was stated in the gamer zone but
PS3 installs are mostly a problem for people who don't own a ps3.

I don't see why they should have to make them mandatory if their only for loading times though, it doesn't matter to me because I would be installing the game regardless.
