in calculation then it takes about 3 days of development in order to make a ps4pro which is very good. shows that sony care about their developers (probably learned from the difficulty it was developing to the ps3 that it would be better to give developers the best experience with their development)
because that these games are heavily optimised for exactly one system. if half the GPU doesn't shut itself down, major compability issues are starting to happen (unlike PC where the devs are optimising so that the game would just work normally, on consoles the devs need to push the hardware more than normally possible on a pc using the same capabilities)
am i the only one who doesn't see much improvement in graphics?
i watched it on youtube (psvr is not sold in my country yet) and i gotta say it has an amazing execution to it, kinda like how good the scarecrow stuff felt the first time you experienced it in asylum. and the youtubers themselves said that it was probably the best and most immersive VR game they tried.
Why do everyone think the Scorpio will have 12 teraflops? I never seen them stating 12 teraflops machine but I do see Sony saying they will have 8.4teraflops.
380k is kinda disappointing. Although this is probably why MS shouldn't have sold this on both pc and Xbox one (notice that these numbers are for Xbox one only).
because it has lots of math to do with it so for now sony gave the developers a tool to use, but in the future developers would start to use this method of the dual 16bit floats and then you will notice the difference (probably in 2018)
@rowl1
actually i checked over the intenet about that fact not long ago and to my surprise the answer is no, almost everything can utilise the 16bit float instead of 32bit, so in the end reaching 8.4 teraflops aint so far from the truth (we may not see the effect on release or in the whole year but perhaps in 2018 developers will utilise this method to be more powerful than the scoprio.
it is even less then that, in 16bit the difference between a float and its next value in binary is 0.0009765625 which is really a bearly noticable number. lets say for pie, instead of 3.14159 you would see around 3.142 so the difference is really small with 2 times the effectiveness.
although i have checked and some graphical effects still needs 32 bit floats but still this is a great step towards better games.
hmm do you understand what they explained of the checkerboard method in the article? i am really interested in cool techniques (i am the type of guy who always loves to search for a shortcut an believes that you can shortcut through everything) but i can't understand the explanation given in the article.
i don't think what you said makes sense. i am pretty sure that it is patched by the developers so i don't think 1080p bluray video can be checkerboarded to 4k.
@showtimefloks
wait really? if so then that's awesome! sony: making hdr without hdr compatible HDMI and making 4k bluray without 4k bluray that is pretty awesome XD
the 8.4 teraflops part is super interesting. Developers must utilise this power and i definitely see developers like R* and naughty dog being able to make with this beautiful stuff.
EDIT: also just remembered something, if i am not mistaken a few weeks before the official announcement of the pro, a developer was asked if the 4.2 teraflops is true and he hinted at a more powerful console than expected, maybe this is why.
anyone can explain what they said about ID's and their technique... it sounds so interesting but i can't understand how it works...
i never seen such a graphically impressive looking game with so many active AI at the same time.
oh no they target gaming websites now! run for your life!! JK. still pretty scary though
after hearing about the usage of dual 16 bit half floats instead of 32 bit, theoretically the PS4P could end up as more powerfull than the scorpio if developers utilise it to the max.
@MasterCornholio well i say what i think is going on, what that sony did with using double 16bit instead of 32bit, what i think it means is this:
if they need a full floating point they will use 2 16bit but if they could also use just half of a floating point that means that they can use the other half float to process something else. in a perfect world that would make 8.4 tf but in the real world for some (maybe most) calculations the developers still need a full floating point. i c...
wow i didn't know that the Nintendo switch specs were already confirmed!
and xbox fanboys are in absolute celebration sigh... i just hope that next gen sony would make their console so that the mods would not be able to hurt the user (by what i heard the way the ps4 is made and written cause a possible breach with external assets).
i agree that only those who are prepared to lose are the ones who have the right to "fight" but this award just makes no sense
