I would think targeted advertising is a large part of it.Advertisers would love that opportunity and will pay for it.Especially in a day and age where commercials do not have to be watched anymore. How well it all goes over remains to be seen, but if someone wants to give me somthing for watching a show I was gonna watch anyway (IE Big Bang Theory), I dont care LOL.
If you get to a point where your choosing food or cable/internet, playing a video game shouldnt be a priority in your life. No form of entertainment should be.

This topic came up in Febuary, but for some reason few thought it was newsworthy then. Not the blocking part, but the "fee" issue.
Yoshida also said this after stating used games will not be blocked...
“We are just now announcing the basic vision and strategy for PS4, and we’ll have more information to share regarding used games later this year.”
Wouldnt he just say used games will work like they do now for current systems if that was definately the case? After all the flack MS is getting for the SAME kind of statements, it would be in Sony's best interests to do so right now.
“We are just now announcing the basic vision and strategy for PS4, and we’ll have more information to share regarding used games later this year.”
Sony worldwide studio head Shuhei Yoshida
Same kind of response to the subject MS gave.
I dont care alot about console styling.Function over form for me.But anyone who blasted the One cant see this as beautiful LOL. My first thought was the worlds biggest 80's game cartridge.
I just read this article here and it has this quote.
Sony worldwide studio head Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer that “used games can play on PS4.” When pressed on the issue, however, Sony told Game Informer: “We are just now announcing the basic vision and strategy for PS4, and we’ll have more information to share regarding used games later this year.”

Neither have got me excited enough yet to preorder. Is Sony going to remain free or pay to play online? If they both offer paid services, how will they compare? Whats MS going to do about used games? How much will either cost? What kind of games are in the pipeline at E3? The multiplats will be there for both, but will either have a exclusive I just HAVE to own?
Its amazing how both companies have told me so much about what they have coming, yet I still have some decision making quest...
Now that ive seen a little about both upcoming systems,I'm still undecided which one ends up in my home first. Yeah,I didnt see alot of games today.Didnt expect it and MS made it clear beforehand I wouldnt. (Apparantly alot of people didnt get that memo..Tech media included). The anouncement of alot of exclusives was a pleasant surprise. I'm sure the games will be pretty. The limited hardware specs shown imply it will be on par more with the PS4 than the WiiU..Not exactly a surprise. ...
There was one scene where two people were talking and it was sitting on a table. It didnt look that big to me.
Xbox One
So having a few Sony employees twittering today is some sort of attack? Not any different from Nelson throwing a quip towards the PS4 event to me. And no one outside people who visit sites like this know about it....Or likely care.
But even the regular media will have Nextbox articles everywhere after this reveal. Just like Sony got a few months ago.Its all new hardware being announced and MS apparantly did a good job keeping the details secret.Sony knows this. Why waste real resources...
I guess it all depends what they do with it.We have one now.Kid loves it. I find the Dance Centrals fun and the voice/movement navigation for other stuff has potential. If its included with every console, the support would be better.
^^^ Is that really nessesary? Nice edit..It was a F bomb aimed at his/her children before. You feel like a real grownup writing things like that?
I have seen small articles one could read inside a minute on N4G lead to "dissusions" that go on for...pages easily.
An hour is plenty of time for some fluff, usual company bragging about accomplishments, and the actual information everyone is tuning in for.
There will be unanswered questions. Too bad theres not a larger event next month that might address them......
I plan on buying one of them this year.No idea which because I dont know much about one and none about the other. E3 will inform me of alot and the months that follow will tell even more. I'm not a console loyalist. I'm looking for value and features that appeal to me.
Ive been to several over the years and found quite the opposite. And its not just when someone is at the counter asking questions. Ive overheard some really in depth game conversations employees were discussing with themselves (beats walking with the wife into Bath and Body works LOL). Its a video game store. My wife wouldnt last a day working at one. She couldnt tell you the difference between a Angry Bird character or Kratos.
Being in sales myself, I can tell they are trained/pushed? ...
Sounds like Daft Punk did the music.I'm not sure its real or not. Looks professional-ish...But not beyond what a fan could put together.
Yeah it was a sleek, modern, front loader with stereo sound.Hitachi with a silly remote that doubled as the face buttons on the unit.It was like the remote was a game cartridge.Rectangular in shape with awful ergonomics. My Grandparents had a top loader.Dad wasnt about to drop hundreds more for a VCR like they did a few year prior.I think even at the "low" price of $350, it was a struggle to open his wallet LOL.
Could this mean theres a fee the consumer doesnt see? Gamestop pays it,then sells the game as usual to a consumer. Supply and demand will go into effect, so used games at new game prices will not fly.
