Biggest pain in the arse steam is with most store games needing it and then wanting to have a patch downloaded straight away just because the Devs couldn't be stuffed to make their disk properly in the first place.

This patent is about a device that does 3D tracking for games but does so via certain moves that just so happen to be the same moves you'd use in a dance game etc then moves that you'd use in a exercise game etc.

I have a PS3 but I do most gaming on the PC.
Most games will go by what your system can do so if a game isn't going for the highest settings it probably not the highest spec machine.
I'm surprised that Homefront's highest res is only 1280x1080 it's not very high and the other settings don't push the GFX card I have, it runs as 65FPS all the time at the highest settings.

Well on the right PC you can play GTA4 at 3000x2000 and that's above HD2 res.
You'd need a 2x1.5 meter TV to make it worth while or a projector that could do that res.
That's the bleeding edge of PC GFX.
most GFX cards will do 1080P easy with full settings turned on, games on PC don't push the GFX cards anymore.
To push the GFX cards you'd need to run seti and stuff.

I don't like the whole downloading games thing but if the companies aren't going to do any other way and you want to play a game then you'll end up having to use it at some point.
Just close down steam and restart it and select offline mode and the games work in offline mode.

Sony wasn't against people doing home dev programs on their PS3 other wise you'd never have OtherOS in the first place.

If you had read about their up coming game release and it's going to be multi plat a year or 2 ago you'll see they see it as a test of concept not a we are going multi plat forever.
it's not even for the money
It's only the textures being super size so you'd be talking about 3000x3000 size textures.
Only the PC GFX cards can handle those textures, and even then you need the 3+gig ones to make any use of them as each one will be 500meg to 1-2gig in size.
people with the PC version will upgrade the texture in mod packs but I don't know if it's worth it really.
