Simple really sony owns 13 studios (a few that dev more than 1 game at a time). Then you simply pay, help publish, or even help develop some of the indie/3rd parties games to keep them exclusive.
Atleast the ps3 was worth the money, microsoft is selling you a console with worst hardware at a higher price. Sony atleast gave you a bluray player, better hardware with the extra $100 it took to buy the basic model compared to the top xbox model. Albeit with a smaller harddrive. So if you don't want the kinect you still have to pay an extra $100 for it.
Yep i'll have to agree there, we had burnout, gta, medievil, a decent ridge racer, metal gear acid, thug 2, twisted metal, ssx, battlefront 2, and a couple decent nfs games before the end of it's first year. They weren't the highest rated games, but it was definitely a better variety.
They can't choose, but they can sure help third parties get interested with Nintendo getting some first party titles sales will help. That's when we will see some third party get interested again.
It's got to do with actual stores, you can't simply say "hey guys get your game cheaper here" without making the stores who sell your products upset. It's not like phones, they don't have to deal with stores selling their games.
It won't help them, i wouldn't pay a $100 more for a weaker console. Unless microsoft actually stick to making exclusives. They started this gen strong with exclusives and it died down almost instantly.
All Sony has to do is release an app for the million androids and ios phones out there and it would do exactly what the kinect 2.0 does from a software control standpoint. Idk why they didn't just use smartglass for the stuff it wants to do with the kinect.
No denying it looks better, I'm just giving examples of how it is actually simpler to Dev for the vita
@Sherimae i don't think that's the case, but it's not because of the specs as izumo has said, In fact the budget according to sony on average is only a bit more than the psp. I'm sure the 3d mario games have also taken a couple years as does most vita titles. There have been plenty of 3ds games that took a couple years to come out.
From what i've heard the vita is actually easier to develop for when compared to the 3ds because of it's similar architecture to most mobile devices. The 3ds is alot like the gamecube in some ways, when it comes to getting special effects going. Fogging is an example where the vita can do it through simple methods, the 3ds is using something a bit more complex to use it. The same applies to bump mapping, refractions, lighting, etc. Which is why more indies are on vita when compared to...
I was slightly disappointed tbh, they said they were bring ps vita games at e3 and the only one they said can be played elsewhere except for killzone. Hopefully they include crossbuy via patch or something on those ps3 ports.
@gdatyler the 3ds sold better in the first months at the same price as the vita. Plus nintendo is not the one milking franchises with lackluster for their portable. Modnation (didn't have online), resistance (need I say more), Ratchet and clank, and the newest port of the jak and daxter collection. Nintendo has new ips (many of which i bought my 3ds for) and tbh i don't see how some of the things i listed got through sony like they did. Even assassin's creed and call of duty (name...
I don't think it's trademarked, i've seen third party controllers with all of the above so i don't think it would be. Nintendo and xbox had the same configuration during the sixth gen. I guess nintendo figured if one stick is comfortable that way why not put both that way.
Rumor had it they kinda did, I heard nintendo was going to help with advertising on the game.
Microsoft keeps a policy that all games must come on their console at the same time or not at all and have the same features. Only activision has gotten away with it with goldeneye reloaded. It will be worrying next gen if microsoft keeps them considering how much more powerful the ps4 is.
@cyhm3112 like I said on paper Microsoft screwed up the architecture compared to the ps4
if the 50% more powerful thing is anything to go by 4.5x more powerful on paper. The thing about the ps4 is it's also much easier to get power out of the specs available and faster ram. So it might seem like a bigger jump than that.
The difference between pc and xbox one is half the time most games are bought for far cheaper than their console counterparts. it's a give and take type of thing, but in the end of the day you get more value out of it.
@foxgod yea you can if you go through certified shops. You can't sell them to other people or give them to friends unless your friends online. You can say it plays used games, but you better put a huge asterisk by a statement like that.
Last time i knew they ported the vita version over to the ps3 last year in japan. It was supposed to come out by the end of the summer, but i haven't heard of anything yet since the announcement.
