Not at all. They have plenty of 3rd party core support, however, there's no denying their focus has changed to things outside of gaming. Some may call it a bait and switch, others call it the natural evolution for their platform. For me personally, I don't get excited about having to be a Gold member to use everything that differentiates it from their competition. Next gen is where I either "Jump (back) In" or continue to "Long Live Play".

I disagree gamingdroid (shock!). Smartphones, simply because you can play Words with Friends, aren't eating into the market of the gamer playing Mario Kart or Uncharted. I have an Android phone, play Game Dev Story all the time, but until my phone can give me gaming the likes of the Vita or 3DS, it's still a phone...and sometime Netflix streamer.
After the live stream I watched last night/this morning that Nitrowolf posted, that damn thing could cost $400...I'm sold.

What are you hearing that's turning you away? The only things I've seen to raise my eyebrows at have been the memory card prices and...that's it really. The games look fantastic, the hardware (ditto) and the price of the console itself, I think, is really good. It plays PS1 games, has a browser, 3G support, social features, etc. I'm curious if I've missed something that may turn me away as well.

EDIT: I get that it's a multi purpose device, but as you said, it's meant for gaming. There will definitely be people who want a browser, YouTube, etc. and those are valid wants. My point is you aren't buying it primarily for a browser or youtube or flash. It'll come and while we wait, there's some damn fine gaming that will keep us busy enough to not care.

Pretty well from the amount of players in-world, updates and content being released. Every time I log in, the server population is "High". There's always someone wo team up with. I personally think it's a blast. So glad it went F2P.
