If you don't want SLI setup with the originals, then just wait for 800 Maxwell series. They are supposed pack amazing performance, along with increased efficiency and most exciting of all, possibly stacked DRAM. So yea, either get GTX 780 or r9 290x now, or just wait for new GPU line.
The guy is a legend in the game of golf. Sad to see the partnership end, but I predicted it would at some point. Franchise has lasted entirely to long and there isn't enough "new" in the series to maintain their once year-in-year-out great sales. Time for a new direction.
