Big time! I would have bought a Japanese 80gb if it were available. There are so many amazing PS2 fighting games that are available over there, and I can't justify paying $200 for a new PS2. I would pay $300-400 for a used 80gb japanese ps3 if I could.

He is a little off. Sure, you won't achieve anything physically, because you just sit at your computer all day. But mentally you can achieve a lot. I have gone from being complete garbage in Quake 1, to high level in Quake 4 because I put in a lot of time and practice. It is the same with anything, you get out of it what you put into it. Its the fast paced mechanics that make the Quakes great competitive games. Being able to think fast and "twitch" is a skill in itself. Games like CoD4 are slower paced and easier for most people to pick up and learn. I am a "lone wolf" player I guess. I do enjoy team games in the Quake games though.
You must be new to Quake 4. It is anything but a noobfest. I have put in a lot of time and it is very rewarding. I take pride in my "crouch sliding" ability. It really gives me an advantage on most maps. For anyone who doesn't know what it is, this is what Fatal1ty means by reaping the rewards. Its an advanced technique. I go by the Quake4 name "blud" for those that have witnessed my movement. :)

PS1 and PS2 got their shovelware as the console started to gain popularity. At the begining, developers actually "tried" to make great games for the system. PS1 and PS2 were never marketted to attract non-gamers over gamers, and it was not the specific focus of Sony to do so. Wii is just not the choice system for 3rd party games. Everyone assumes that because its selling at triple the rate of the other 2 systems, that it will equal success for 3rd parties. Do you not understand? because of your gimp hardware, the PS3 version is toned down. If Rockstar could have made GTA4 exclusively for the PS3, it would have been way better than anything on the 360. Don't you remember that the 360 version is the lead platform? Anything ported to PS3 is usually crappier. Although, to the normal human eye, the PS3 version looks superior. Sony should win e3 again this year. They have 2 HUGE games that were hinted at being announced in the coming weeks.
Not sure what the fascination with Wii is, but to each their own I guess. And on the Boom Blox comment, everyone is so impressed with the game because it has physics... Is the Wii so underpowered that a good physics engine is the only thing that gets you guys excited?

These two games alone would keep me happy for a long time. I just finished crisis core, and loved it. Seeing the FF7 intro in better graphics really had me wishing for the remake even more. E3 can't come soon enough. Looks like Sony will win e3 again.
Oh and the "Our eyes are square" comment is unusual. Unless of course that is a common phrase down under, but I doubt it.
Its important because of how bad people were bashing the PS3 and saying it was a failure, or that it would never do well and that Sony was done. MS was sitting pretty on top with a year headstart and now they might be sweating a bit. The PS3 has proven itself to be a reliable and quality game machine and is finally getting positive press. I personally like both the 360 and PS3 but I would really prefer my games on the PS3. It still has a way to go in the US, but slow and steady wins the race....
Not a big Kingdom Hearts fan, but if KH3 goes to the PS3, its a must buy for me. :)
I just noticed my bubbles went down from 6 to 5. All the truth i'm speaking must really sting the Wii fanboys. So much that they give me negatives. Its a good feeling. :)
One could look at this in two different ways:
A)Thanks to Dark_Alex many more people have bought a PSP for custom firmware.
B)Thanks to Dark_Alex many sales have been lost because with custom firmware you can play downloaded games.
