The small detail that these articles conveniently leave out, is that the PlayStation Vita had the second strongest launch in Japan of any PS device, the only console that had a stronger launch was that the PS2. All of them saw a large drop off in their second week of sales too.
Vita will be just fine...
Not sure why people are disagreeing with you.
Sony already has an ebook store, it would be easy for them to bring it to the Vita. Its not something I would use very much but it would be nice to have it on there.
They seriously said the Vita is 2 years too late?
From a technical standpoint its at least a year ahead of anything else on the market right now. And the recent sales increase for the 3DS prove that there is still a place for dedicated gaming handhelds. (like most people) They were wrong about the 3DS and they will be wrong about the Vita.
Oh my god, in the first two weeks it only sold 400,000 of the 500,000 units they shipped in Japan, ITS DOOMED!
I ...
They may have to drop the price, but if anyone actually believes this they are completely delusional. Or they really are that stupid.
Why would randomly delaying it with no real reason help them sell more units?
Get it out there, let it start picking up some momentum.
Ya, games like Uncharted and Modnation will definitely sell much better over here than they have been in Japan. I think Gravity Daze could definitely be the killer app in Japan.
There are some great games for the 3DS right now, and they're eating it up in Japan. Once the Vita can get together a solid library of games and get some momentum going, it will be fine. If there is one thing we've learned this generation its that its not how you start, its how you finish.
Well, its a day one buy for me.
I've decided to go for the wifi Vita with the accessory bundle, Modnation Racers and Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
Gravity Daze could be the big seller for Vita in Japan once that launches.
I'll be curious to see what kind of numbers that does.
Man, I still need to play through Origins collection and God of War 3.
Guess I need to get on that, huh?
Scratch that, coulda swore those were WW numbers.
That's counting worldwide sales of the 3DS to japan's sales of the Vita. During the holidays too, totally an unfair comparison.
For god sakes at least let the Vita have a worldwide launch before you go making flamebait articles like this.
This was an epic read.
Loved it, thanks for posting.
Since we don't know the final specs yet, or any games that will be available in the launch window, I don't know if its fair to say that.
When they unveiled it, I predicted $349
I'll stick with my original prediction for now. I could see it being a little bit more expensive than that tho.
I can't get over how gorgeous this game is.
Is this only when you pre-order online, or can you get this deal in-store as well?
EDIT: nevermind, I didn't finish reading the article.
It would explain why the 16 and 32gb memory cards are selling so well over there.
Wow, (if this is true) nicely done Sony.
I was originally planning on getting a 32gb, but after hearing the prices I decided to get a 4gb at launch and wait until I can get a 32gb on sale.
At the very least, I'll be getting a 16gb now.
Not believing it until we hear it from Sony.
EDIT: and it looks like they already shot this rumor down.
Last week IGN wrote an article that rated their top ten favorite menu screens.
That is all.
