Hmm, I always feel a twinge of concern about sales numbers when a multiplayer-only game is announced. But Titanfall is generating good buzz.
Oh come on! The God of War series has consistently scored very high critical ratings (with the exception of Ascension) and sold over 22 million copies. The Infamous series also received good critical review scores and sold about 2 million copies per game. Hardly "non selling crap first party IPs!"
The Google translation of this article was pretty rough. But it sounds like the PS4 is doing well in that country known for its culinary taste. I guess the PS4 is the soufflé of next gen consoles.
You may be right. The Nintendo 3DS is enormously popular and didn't even appear on the wish list, maybe because most people who wanted on already have one.
This could result in bad PR for EA. Or more likely just be a PR blip on EA's radar. Depends on how much social media pushes the issue.
Pretty impressive given that the Xbox One costs $100 more than the PS4! It'll be interesting to see which console's sales flag first once supply exceeds demand.
@AngelicIceDiamond
CDPR is the developer for the Witcher 3 aren't they? So far, I've only seen one developer comment that the Xbox One is easier to develop for than the PS4 and that is because the Xbox One SDK and API are similar to a PC's and and CDPR developed Witcher 1 for the PC. By all accounts, programming to make use of the Xbox One's esram is more difficult than programming for the PS4's unified 8gb GDDR5.
@ic3fir3
The Witcher 3 developers said the Xbox One was easier to develop for because the SDK and API were so similar to PC SDKs and API. Given that Witcher 1 started life on the PC, they have experience with developing for the PC environment. In addition, it probably also helps that Microsoft owns both the Windows OS and the Xbox One OS so the SDKs and APIs would naturally be similar.

My understanding too is that third party developers, Gearbox in particular, twisted Sony's arm into including 8gb of GDDR5 RAM instead of the 4gb that was in the original design. Sony lucked out because the price of GDDR5 RAM dropped dramatically during the run up to the PS4 launch.
This is a particularly interesting story because a similar story happened with the Xbox 360. It was originally designed with 256mb of RAM but the Xbox developers came back to ...
He did mention it. Hidden feature two. Pretty cool actually!
Aren't all boobs magical? ;)
Boobs are always a topic of conversation in any male-dominated community. That and dick jokes.
I think it's clear from this article that there is a group of impassioned, hardcore Xbox gamers who are fighting to get back features on Xbox One that were important to the hardcore gamers, e.g., centralized access to core features such as friends lists, achievements and system settings.
It's also clear that Microsoft's broader focus to enter the tablet market and dominate the living room is having a detrimental effect to the Xbox OS with respect to the hardcore g...
Sony is a riding a popularity high right now so survey results naturally reflect this, just like political polls. I think Xbox 360 owners were ferociously loyal to Microsoft at the beginning of the last game console cycle because Microsoft did a great job understanding and catering to the hard core gamers. The roles have reversed somewhat this generation in that Sony is focusing on hard core gamers with the PS4. In contrast, Microsoft has broadened their focus to a larger audience. This may p...
@karl That $100 price difference is really having an impact on the Xbox One's sales. Sony read the target market better than Microsoft this generation and is following a very effective pricing strategy.
I think the price point for the PS4 is a big contributor to its sales numbers. Sony did a great job putting together just the right set of hardware features and services for their target market. The strong graphics card, 8 gigs of RAM and especially the redesigned Dualshock 4 controller were smart features to focus on if you're designing hardware with a long life cycle. And their choice to not include the PlayStation camera and price the PS4 $100 less than the Xbox One so close to the lau...
A large reason for the uproar when Xbox Live went down was because it is a paid service and extended over 2 weeks if I recall correctly. People do expect some issues during launch periods but only for a short period of time. Otherwise they get impatient.
It's bad that you have to fight with the game controls before you can fight with the game controls. :)
I think there's considerable improvement in the graphics from 4 to 5. That said, I much prefer the more arcade-like racing games over the simulations. MotorStorm is my favorite racing game. I hope Sony brings MotorStorm to PS4. It looked gorgeous on PS3 so I just cannot imagine what it'd look like on the PS4!
I seriously doubt the sales numbers will be skewed that badly. The Xbox 360 had a large and dedicated fanbase of 80 million gamers. And while some of those dedicated gamers may have jumped ship to the PS4 because of Microsoft's ham-fisted PR at the Xbox One reveal, I doubt the number will be 45 or 50 million, which is the number of defectors you'd need to bring the Xbox One sales numbers down to 30 - 35 million.
