Brings new meaning to the term “hardcore gamer.” 🙂
Social media = mob. Cancellation = mob justice.
Objectively, I think the answer to the headline's question is "yes, the console war does matter" for a number of reasons:
The gaming media spends much time and "ink" focusing on console war debates such as graphical fidelity, exclusives, multi-platform support, online capabilities, backward compatibility and most notably perhaps, console sales numbers. These articles give console makers a lot of free publicity. The more articles written, the more likel...
@vulcanproject. Well said!
Agreed!
Agreed. I'm sure Microsoft is working on apps and games to utilize Kinect and perhaps find that one killer application that will make Kinect a must have.
It's the people showing their passion man! But unfortunately some also mix in ignorance, immaturity, arrogance and insecurities, which clouds the message of their passion. Kinda like the tea party.
Me too!!
It's important for small studios to execute efficiently. They don't have the financial padding that larger studios have if something goes wrong.
Yeah, I meant to say person but either typed in party by mistake or got autocorrected.!
I prefer the PlayStation exclusives over the Xbox exclusives. Xbox seems to focus more on first- and third party shooters, which I'm not very good at playing. I also feel that Microsoft tends to nickel and dime their customers more than Sony.
This is good news. The higher the adoption rate, the higher the probability that developers will make use of the camera in games or some kind of app.
Sounds promising! I hope Sony prices the service reasonably.
The focus on resolution and frame rate should be expected given that we're looking at next gen consoles where the consumer expectation for "next gen" graphical output is 1080p and 60fps. Remember when the Xbox 360 and PS3 came out touting HD graphics and the uproar when the pixel counters discovered most games outputting at 720p or less? People really did expect this generation of consoles to hit 1080p and to a lesser extent 60fps. The fact that the Xbox One is not achieving 108...
I think the biggest complaint is the tone of Microsoft's ad. Comcast and Sprint aren't implicitly trashing their competitor by saying "ditch" or "recycle" their product or service for ours. Plus the Sprint and Comcast ads focus on a major deterrent to switching to a competitor's service, which are written into the competitor's contract. But you make a good point. The offer in essence isn't that dissimilar to other types of switching incentives.
I think this just plays into Microsoft's hands. I'm sure Microsoft knew this offer would be viewed as controversial and part of the goal was to generate more conversation about and attention to the Xbox One.
Hmpf! The visual accomplishments of the Ryse game don't prove the parity of graphical capabilities between Xbox One vs. PS4. That's faulty logic. Rather, it proves that Crytek did an excellent job programming on the Xbox One. The most reliable way of comparing the graphical strengths of the Xbox One vs. PS4 is comparing the same game done on both systems (multiplatform games), though the comparison is best done later on in this console generation to give developers time to figure out ...
That's good news! I hope this rumor is true.
Yeah, I wish I were that patient as well. Much more economical way of being a gamer.
Mini-me.
