They use the same engine they have for 10 years which makes the player wait at load screens to get to SECTIONS of a level. What did infinite do that "pushed the boundaries"? Zip lines? Walkable cutscenes with Elizabeth? It's a solid shooter, there is nothing gameplay wise that is remarkable.
Half-life 2 has more gameplay variation then any game to date. And Half-Life changed EVERYTHING. Learn some fucking manners when disowning arguably the most important game series for the shooter genre. Look up "Escape from mount stupid - Half Life" to see why it's incredible.
SC2 viewership never really caught on in the states until The second MLG and then afterwords it became more popular then Halo - eventually it took the center stage literally.
What's more competitive then SC2? The skill ceiling is ridiculous.
