I used to think that myself but in recent years they have really dropped the ball again and new games can be expected to run like crap for weeks and weeks after release. Where as nVidia makes sure they have a driver patch a day or 2 before release to keep people happy...
And try and get driver for a GPU that is not a 6xxx or 7xxx series and then tell me they have good driver support.

No, no they where not, I have owned plenty of cards on both sides of the fence. nVidia have always been more expensive but they have always performed better and lasted longer. 8800GTX was 8.5 years ago now and they beat everything ATi had to offer back then hands down.

It's likely to run better on the 360 than it does on the XB1, although I am still interested to see if the maps, game modes and bot numbers are the same. If the only difference is that it is in 720p and has slightly lower resolution textures then I'd say take the 360 version for the better performance.
