Numbers are out. PS3's sales have absolutely nothing to do with the 360. We all know that. PS3's numbers mean that the PS3 is finally getting the attention of America, more so than the DS. The PS3 dominates world wide, now It will start to include America into those numbers.

First of all Bluray Drives are made to spin. Much like CDrom or DVDrom before it. There is no DANGER involved with spinning data off a disc drive. Never has been, never will be. (with the exception of defective drives)
PS3's aren't dropping like flies due to Bluray Reading. Even if you constantly read a bluray disc for hours on end, they have life spans.

Why is it that a multiplatform dictates how the ps3 runs? The system is clearly capable of running Uncharted. Why not use a technologically advanced title that as the standard?
a 4 year old rig that played half life 2 source at 1920x1200 4xaa will still play GEARS/MASS Effect just fine.
