I understand what you're saying and I know the question wasn't for me, but I'm going to take the liberty to answer it if you don't mind..:)
I'm an art director and a graphic designer on a publicity agency... My job is based on pure creativity. I can call myself pretty creative in the designs I create and also when I have to come up with new slogans or campaign ideas..
I love to create from my ideas, but that doesn't mean LBP is what I'm crazy about.

and YES... MS should be worried about a lot of things this year specially when they couldn't even outsell the PS3 in 2007 with their "biggest" releases...
I'll say again.. when a company concentrates so much on a multiplatform game (GTA4) and on a game that will be released at the end of the year or probably 2009 (GeOW).......Then you know they don't have enough and they aren't prepare to compete with its dir...

SONY was hyping their 2008 games while they were releasing HS, R&C, Folklore, Warhawk, UT3, Uncharted etc.
Now 2008 is here and through out the year we will have MGS4, GT5, KZ2, FF, LBP, HAZE..... need more? Tekken 6, Heavy Rain, SOCOM, WKS.. HOME???
RESISTANCE 2.... better believe it.. it will come this year.

Imaging if Microsoft is f*cked this year, that they are running the MEGA hype train on a game "releasing" in November 28.... I bet my left nut it won't even release this year..

Believe or not, colors and art designs can be defining factors when consumers who aren't clear about differences between products, are looking for something they need/want etc.
These are known strategies to target costumers who are easily attracted to eye candy and nice packaging
I can't say it's a big percent, but I know for a fact colors and packaging will make some people buy the product and if the product is actually good...then better.
we need to support as much as we can developers like Imsomniac, Naughty Dog, Bungie, Incognito, Bioware(when it was independent)...
because these companies work their asses off for a believe which is, make the best possible game for their fans.
