Not really, valve can just give you a cd key at no ost, whereas they can't give you a blu ray disk at no cost.
Even if it was available to download on PSN.....Sony charges them exponentially for the bandwidth...whereas valve doesn't have to deal with that on steam.
Portal 1 was a $5 game, and is now free on PC...
I don't know why anyone would pay for portal 2 anyway.

I seem to remember Jaffe going publicly ape$#!+ about game journalists' harsh criticisms about 12 months ago.
Journalists are here to give us a second opinion, but it only suits Jaffe types when they are not under the radar.
Panda, be realistic here....in 1999 we would have been rocking 1280x1024. That's still much higher res than current gen games.

I bought Mirrors Edge for $4AUS from GAME in store, box, manual plastic wrapping and all.
There was a double pack of dues ex/just cause for $4 as well....
Retail still has these sort of sales.
I can also buy any game cheaper than steam from retail on release dat. Steam is only good for sales of obscure games or if you live in a third world country with no retail chains.

I lost interest in this game 5 minutes after it was announced as online only...now they are just digging their own grave.
Online requirements are totally never beaten.....I mean it's not like millions of gamers use hamachi or other pirate or private servers to play torrented versions of online games and MMO's....oh wait....it is.
While Bioware is not innocent, this is still very true.
They addressed just about all the problems with DA:O, DA2 has better graphics, better A.I, better combat, smarter tactics configuration, voiced PC ( playable character ).
The problems with the game were the price gouging, DLC and rushing the release, which did come down to EA.
Look at Kotor 2 ( yes I know it was made by obsidian ), it was far better than Kotor 1 in every regard, characte...
Farcry 2 could have been so much more though, imagine bot matches with custom maps..the big waste was because it was online only so you had to find 20 people etc that wanted to play on your maps, which is hard because everyone wanted to play on their own.
32v32 bot maps with a $#!+ tonne of vehicles= heaven.
Nintendo doesn't do gimmicks, they innovate, the others copy, then it becomes a gimmick.
Nintendo dragged sony and microsoft kicking and screaming into motion control. Now it's a selling point for them both.
The same will happen next gen, and the one after that.
Yet, we need new I.P's and gears DEFINITELY need a new I.P.

The game is actually extremely good. The combat and story presentation ( 99.99999999% of story is with in game scenes, not 99.999999% cutscenes like in the last game ).
The big killers are the DLC milking, the extra $10 game cost on PC and the DRM.
But it is by no means a bad game.
The GOTY/ultimate version will be a hell of a game to buy.

Nintendo deserve their success. Last gen they were the ones with the best hardware and the games to match and the PS2 was the shovelware console, yet the PS2 had the most success. People need to remember that when thinking of the Wii.
