as far as firmware features are concerned the PS4 is miles behind the xbox one now. Hell i cant even plug an external HDD in and i could do that straight out the box with my WiiU.

That's just the WiiU all over though. It doesn't have raw power so it's games have to play well. and they do there's more 90%+ exclusive games on the WiiU than the PS4 and Xbone.

It doesn't have lord of the rings in the title because its set before Lord of The Rings and after the Hobbit. Instead it has Middle-earth in the titel because that's what Warners are trying to call the whole saga and its set slap bang in the middle of it.
Having played it i can say hand on heart that it's...dull, oh so dull. And my preview is going to say that too.
Of course its not for kids. It's for 20/30 somethings trying to recapture the spirit of their youth. Children don't give a damn about Mario or Zelda they're all playing GTA, CoD and Minecraft.
They wont give us a firm date on the WiiU version unitl the 3ds one is out, otherwise it could cannibalize sales as many will just wait for the WiiU version instead.

Last time i checked the Wii and DS dominated last gen with almost no core third party support.
The GC was still profitable in the end without it, as was the N64.
The 3ds which only has middling support at best, especially outside of Japan was the best selling gaming device last year.
Has it held back the WiiU? not really. when it as receivining support no bugger bought it anyway.

Dying Light wont overshadow Dead Island 2 because the games are very different beasts. Dead Island 2 is far sillier for a start and has a much bigger emphasis on silly weapons and mass zombie slaughter whilst Dying Light was more about exploration.
