It is exactly my biggest concern as well from the start. It is not money. I buy a new unlock flagship andorid every 18 months. I buy a top range MSi gaming laptop for work and play every 3 years. I bought my PS3 at launch with my Sony 42 Bravia back then. Still to this day the best purchase ever!!.

Say by a miracle MS is able to launch in late 2017 and price it at best 499 with these rumor sepcs. That would be at least 10 months after Neo that is most likely priced at 399 lunch late 2016 or early 2017.
Neo would also have the advantage of adding the PS4 userbase which as of now is 40 million. By end of 2017 the PS4 + Neo userbase would be at least 65 million.

If Neo is real and launches late or early next year it will have at least 10 months headstart over this rumor xbox 1.5 or 2 whatever they call it in the end plus a big price advantage.
This type of performance is similar to 500 USD cards that can run OC. Even if it comes out late next year you are still looking at at best a 300 USD card. Not sure how MS are going to price it if true.
Now if the PS Neo is 399 with 10 months head start plus compatibility...
I can understand MS going for this as they will want to compete with Sony in the VR space. I think they will team up with OC for this.
However there will be two big issues
1. Price of not just this new xbox but also the VR compare to Neo and PSVR
2. PS Neo will carry the current PS4 userbase over with it because they will still be similar. Scorpio and current X1 there will be a huge difference and thats if publishers would even take full advantag...
