In all these cases no one really cared about it. Sony has been doing cross platform play since last gen and literally people prefer cross game chat or just more games, exclusives.
This feature is even less of an importance to PS fan than BC.
It is the height of arrogance really. Phil and crew has surpass Don and Greenberg in terms of being arrogant assholes.
This time around I thought that they have learned their lesson and be more humble and start on a clean slate with X1X. However as the author has stated they instead are focusing on being assholes.
So just because MS want cross platform play they expect Sony to just say yes?.

Man, never considered this before. So with 4k we are going to need 40gig simply for texture res alone?
The price is not so much the issue but I think tech. We are advancing content size but we are still using old infrastructure and tech which is not keeping up.
At this rate I am not even sure how the internet will cope with 8k when it eventually becomes standard.
PS4 has more 3rd party content so actually the PS4 is best for 3rd party as well not just for gamers but for publishers.

Honestly right now 1080p60fps is perfectly fine with me and why I have not bought a pro yet.
I will get 4k when the PS5 launches when prices are lower and more worthwhile 4k content.

Death, we don' really know what the PS5 will bring and next gen. Fact is X1X and Pro will still have comparable graphics especially when the PS4 Pro becomes the base model once the PS5 launches.
Play anywhere was one of ms feeble attempt to combat the PS4. This came out after their biggest lineup in history and QB did jack for them. QB being one of the first game on this program.
Truth is MS was never serious about it. It was just a way to cover how bad they were doing and save face by trying to claim ownership of the PC gaming market.
We all knew this and many Xbox fans were adamant that MS does in fact own the PC gaming market and it was a goo...
I believe Sony's strategy once the PS5 launches is to retire the OG PS4 and have the PS4 Pro as the base model while the PS5 will be the new high end pro model doing native 4k 60fps as standard.
So right now
Base - PS4 (1080p,30-60fps)
High - PS4 Pro (4k,30fps)
Next gen
Base PS4 Pro (4k,30-60fps) Checkerboard, Without the OG PS4 holding it back
High PS5 (4k,60fps) Native,standard.

No actually. Once the PS5 is launched the PS4 Pro will be the base model and that will still be the main competitor for the X1X. To many people the PS4 Pro is still 4k and most will not care much about the difference in graphics between the two like they will soon when the X1X launches.

Normally you would release a new console in the holidays but looking at how Sony is changing that they might actually do something different.
Conventional wisdom is that they will announce it at the end of 2018 or Feb 2019 and then release in Nov 2019. However seeing as how the PS4 is doing really well and Xbox not really a threat they might actually move it to the end of 2019 and release mid...
