The ideas were good. The execution was bad. They made the weapons more balanced than gears 3(though the rifles were still a bit too strong due to the balancing for free for all) but they bring back the 2 piece and add stim grenades.
The next game will be fine as long as they balance the game for skill and not add idiotic mechanics to help bad players. Also no gears 3 aim assist.
The boomshot is and always has been a power weapon. It should be 2 shots like in gears 1 but removing it would be idiotic.

The difference between 1080p and 900p is pretty significant power wise. The difference between 30 and 60 fps is even bigger. That's not even taking into consideration that effects, AA and other things that must be turned off to make things close that console fanboys forget about.
Just because there are games that have the same resolution doesn't mean the quality is the same. All 1080p/60 fps games are not created equal.
Cod and skill is an oxymoron. Aim assist, no gun recoil and stupidly accurate hip fire spray will all be there on the next game. It a tradition at this point.

You can play on any size television or monitor you want. You can use a controller on the vast majority of games on pc. You acknowledge these facts and yet you dismiss them because of "inconvenience". What's inconvenient about positioning your pc next to your tv and plugging in your hdmi cable? Exactly how you play on console.

Shooters on pc are thriving but on consoles they are getting stale. Bioshock and Fallout are fine mainly because they are single player games. The problem I have is the competitive aspect. GGPO, Kof 13 steam editions online community vs the nonexistent one on consoles, Melty Blood etc. Skullgirls is dead on consoles and thriving on pc.
I can go GGPO right now and play top level talent in Kof '98 and 2002. I can play Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3. I can play ST and third strike. I can play Vampire Savior and Jojo's along with a bunch of other games.

You need to have your head examined. Pc gamers like RPGs(The Elder Scrolls, Diablo, Fallout etc.) and sports games too. Pc is the only place for TRUE competitive shooters( sorry cod and BF4 fans. Nothing competitive about aim assist and magnetic bullets.)
