Depends on succeed. Usually these arguments are tiresome due to moving goalposts and shifting semantics. Define success as surviving? Then I say yes, the game will shift business models and won't truly flourish till the disc price is reasonable compared to the monthly. $60 down and $15 a month is too rich for the majority of gamers. $7.99 monthly is the edge of reasonable for me, especially on a console where interactivity and social aspects are hindered by the closed system
Great game that did great fan service but perfecting a pre existing formula isn't a grand achievement. Reach didn't blow anyone away but it was Halo perfected (for what it's worth). Uncharted 2 set a hard to reach precedent of amazing sequels.
Definitely not GOTY but a great game none the less.
Better than the wonky controlled and pretty disappointingly ended RDR and the broken narrative of Heavy Rain. What was better?
This is the first MMO I've played that had completely horrible hit boxes on enemies and PvP that is about as unbalanced as it gets. Try fighting someone with flight with any other movement style and tell me the game is ready.
You can tell alot from a buggy beta, you can also tell alot from a buggy beta for a game that is 17 days from release.
The beta card gets played far too often but every MMO has atleast 3 months of paid beta testing post release. The only advantage of being an MMO early adopter is usually taking advantage of the few possitive rewarding bugs and tollerating the far outnumbering annoying ones.
Same goes for any MMO and this is no different. My advice, wait ...
Like there won't be a GOTY edition as well, who really cares?
Well when Killzone 3 releases it will have plural exclusive good FPS, right now its just game (singular) though.
They are shutting down the servers whenever they arent profitable and/or necessary to keep running. It's smart that they have deadlines they can evaluate and then extend as need be. Who knows when they go down though, but even offline the game is amazing.
This is a different trend than the "How the Wii alienated the harcore gamer in 2006" and it's 2007, 2008 and 2009 republishings.
Project Dark is Demon's Souls 2 as much as Mass Effect is Knights of the Old Republic 3 and Bungie's next game is Halo 4.
Haha, there is humour in this.
How is a third person shooter with primarily auto aim and auto lock superior to any game in the gameplay department? Even the horse turning was wonky as heck. It's a good game, the story was good until Marsden died but its flawed in every way you are boasting it.
Knew ME2 was GOTY when it out back in January, shame the year had 11 months of nothing that had a chance. Some good games did come out though, but nothing better.
Wheres the article comparing which is a darker and truer shade of black plastic, or which has the longer cord? or which uses less power?
Can't just stop at one useless comparison, come on!
Really need to play it with a biotic heavy class to see the true beauty of the engine and some marvelously designed combat. The gun heavy classes are definitely not where it's at, but they are there to keep the game accessible to different gaming mentalities
Switch xbox with playstation and you have my opinion on Killzone
To each their own, my GOTY choice has another award under it's well deserved belt and nothing can change that.
Disagree x1000
Given to an unworthy follow up to a far superior game? Don't think so.
For me it's Knights of the Old Republic.
Another GOTY for ME2 makes me smile. It was my favorite game of the year and in 6 days I'll be playing it again.
