You are misinformed. Crytek is not owned by EA and as ddkshah said, they have their own game engine in the Cryengine so they wouldn't use the Frostbite engine.

I think it's because a DLC character in a fighting game has alot of depth to them because you need to take your time to figure out their strengths, weaknesses, move list, combos, etc. I think that adds alot to the game overall and so I believe it warrants a $5 price tag.
Yea as soon as I get my card I'm probably going to start using Amazon. Only game I'm paying full price for this year is Battlefield 3. Already pre-ordered. ;)
And yes Mortal Kombat still lags but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. It's much more stable now. But man is that game FUN! I find it really entertaining and a little addictive.
I haven't bought any games at full price this year. I've only bought 3 so far this year and they are as follows: Portal 2 for $37 and Mortal Kombat and L.A. Noire in a 2 games for $50 deal at Best Buy.
This might sound a little dumb but if you're that curious as to how a Twisted Metal game plays you could always buy Twisted Metal 2 off the PS Store. The gameplay has remained pretty much unchanged throughout the series so just imagine that gameplay with all the improvements and waaaay better graphics.
But they are having a beta for the game, it's just going to be a closed beta. Also, it kind of seems like you are confusing a "beta" with a "demo".
