I bought both on launch day and only played my PS4 the first week. I've put many hundreds of hours on my XB1 since then.
Why? Because to me, it's "better".

That didn't bug me a whole lot, but I know it wasn't "ideal" either.
Same with "party chat on by default". That wasn't a huge deal either, but it's one less thing I have to click, so fine by me.
When you go into the friends app now it defaults to the activity list, and you have to click on friends in order to see your full friends list.
Meanwhile, their competitor's network is regularly down for maintenance, and was brought to it's knees by a limited release DEMO of The Last of Us.
I think I'll be ok waiting another day or two for a minor update.

There has been an option for background updating since Day One.
The first system update they released back in December downloaded automatically for me.
I remember when they announced the first update was coming that it would download automatically and install, but then shut the system down completely, meaning it wouldn't answer to "Xbox On" and you'd have to power it on with the controller.
