If you want something done right, you got to do it yourself.

If they told us earlier, gamers would probably be putting too much pressure on these developers to release it faster. Quality takes time and patient. And those who lacks patient will complain and whine about how slow these developers are and taint their image. If the developers rush and put the game out faster, the quality is lower and gamers will whine. It's more of a lose/lose situation if the public knows too early.

Slim is pretty reliable and is pretty much around 100 price range when on sale.
When 360 is at the 100 or maybe even 120 price. I'm jumping. At that price, I wouldn't mind seeing it break so much but when I pay 200+ and pay other investment (Live), I would expect to see quality and reliability.
These days, you can get a PS2 roughly for 100 and a lot more reliable than the 360.

I'll make it quick, as games get bigger and better in quality (which will over time), this requires more and more space.
We all understand many third party are going to for Multiplatform for many of their games.
Now, when making a multiplat, developers will hit a size constrain on the DVD and will at all cost try and avoid the royalty fee.

The point is, it's potentially and already has been ruining part of the gaming experience for PS3 gamers. GTA4, I'm pretty sure it would have been bigger and have better graphic if it wasn't on the 360. Same goes for Rage, instead of a few big wasteland now it's going to be 2 wasteland. Now, I don't know what FFXIII was like before SE decided to go multi but all I know now is that we have a story for each character (a disc for each character?) instead of one bigger story. Yes, FFXIII will get comparison like crazy. It's bound to happen, in fact, inevitable.
I'm more concern about the gameplay and story rather than the graphic.
But like I said, since the FFXIII story will be split into different story for each character, it works with multiple discs here.

Yeah, sometimes I forget too. Never understood why people sink so far low for a machine/company. I understand if someone insult your girl, I would kick the crap out of the person who insults my girl, and probably yell every name in the book at him.
Harder to program but not so much anymore. We are seeing more and more developers becoming familiar with PS3 especially EA.
I don't like EA but I definitely applaud their performance especially spacing up instead of complaining about the PS3.

I definitely agree that the Bluray is needed. It's progress. Move forward with what works. Single disc works better for developer and that means bigger storage space in a disc.
One of the main reason why I purchase the PS3 is because it's future proof. The depreciation value of the PS3 is a loooooot slower than the 360 because of the future proof factor.

The problem with multiple isn't the shallow short sighted view of the time to change the disc. It's the fact it's lowering the possibility and quality.
I know this example is used to death but imagine having 3 huge well done city in GTA. Every time you travel between city, it's a disc change.
Another problem, imagine KH3 being the open world kind of game it is being multi disc. The story in KH games maybe somewhat linear, but I can travel around to different worlds and do some sid...
It's not about just Royalty Free, there is also a matter of keeping the game fluent. Imagine trying to place an open world in multiple disc. You run from town A to town B, change disc, run to town C, change disc, run back to town B to get to town A. change disc 2x times.
Now, instead of making the game in an open world, developers just switch to linear and cut back.
Each disc must contain duplicate data just to keep the character models and etc. Waste of space.
