with nintendo in the best I have bought consoles in the past just to play the launch games. That is not the case this time. I bought a SNES just to play super mario world in 92, and in 96 I bought a n64 just to play mario 64. I did not buy a wii or gamecube at launch until games I wanted started to arrive.

wait a year to buy patient buyers save so much money. Im almost certain you will be able to get the next model in 2012 for $199 or less plus all the great games will be discounted. I think the $249 price point will cost nintendo thousands of sales.

I wont buy a 3ds because nintendo will release a new model in another year with more features. In another year too you should be able to get most of good games from the first year at a great discount.
no virtual console releases sad...id rather play so many old classic games over "subpar" wiiware/dsiware titles
this why future mario games should take a little big planet approach with fan created levels...as long as nintendo keeps up the quality on the offline component.

I really think the real reason sony left off backwards compatibility on ps3 for ps2 games on the newer models is so they can release them on psn and players will buy them again.
theres simply not room for 4 major consoles. Everytime there has been more than 4 active consoles in gaming consoles at least one has failed.
if sony wants me to pay 39.99 for 3 games i purchased over the last 3 years already, they had better see that extras are included or I will not purchase them. If its complete with everything availiable than I will buy it.
