It's called soccer in the USA, Guam and Canada. Also, it was called Soccer in Australia until the late 1990's. It's called football everywhere else.
The term Soccer comes from the shortened version of Association Football ("Soc" for short).

I think PC exclusives might be part of the problem. Not that they exist, but that so many of them aren't worth beans. A lot of shovelware gets put onto the PC -- so much so it makes the DS look like its slacking.

I happen to agree. I find it silly that publishers will charge full price for a game, then tack on a monthly charge of as much as $15-20 for some games. It amazes me that people actually pay it.

I remember learning back in college that this same thing happened with movies and comic books, but both of those industries avoided much of any government regulation by policing themselves.
