Other than looking 'cool', some of these useless peripherals make the motion controllers easier to hold and, well, control.
But they've just come down so much in price that there's not much of a point of getting a top-of-the-line one when you can get a perfectly good average-to-cheap one for sometimes less than $30.

I actually own two pieces of "gaming" furniture: a pair of storage ottomans that have racks inside to hold game boxes and controllers. Got'em at Target a couple of years ago.
My wife, friends and I like it but we wish there was more DLC available for it.
and I think that's where I'm gonna keep my Grease appreciation.
