VR already failed on the 80s with the Nintendo Virtual Boy. Did VR died because of that? No. In fact VR is getting back now with a much better chance and a lot of better strong support.

I think people forget that these companies start working on their next console right aways after they launched one. These PS4K rumors may just be a prototype of the PS5.
In Sony's case, their product is totally dominating the market. There is no need for a new console yet. On MS case, I would understand if they bring a new console soon.
