We are a rare breed that prefer to pay once and be done. There are fewer companies willing to do that with their games too so we need to support the ones that will. Microtransactions are just too alluring for many publishers as gamers, simply, are cheap.

Well, for one it is not mentioned clearly when in that quote to Kotaku - just "the future."

In the interview I pulled information from it is given a little more specific of a date - 2017. I know that is not all that different but it is more detailed than we were told before.

Probably so as they play with their Furby.

Gamejediben, thanks for bringing up that the link is to the wrong patch. I will correct it now.

It is new because it is the finished script which is improving upon the version you are talking about (which was indeed released years ago). The more complete and finished patch was just released.

That is what makes me think there is more to this than just "security" for Nintendo. I think maybe, just maybe, Apple was willing to pony up some cash to make Super Mario Run exclusive.

We will find out in a few days how the sales go.

3323d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Exactly. If you are in an area with bad service, or no service at all, then you are simply not going to be playing Super Mario Run. At all.

We will have to wait a few more days to see the beginnings of the sales figures appear for Super Mario Run. Will fans reject it based on the obvious concerns or will they blindly accept it, shell out $10 and enjoy the game for whatever time Nintendo permits?

That does bring up an interesting point. Going with an always on Internet connection requirement does give Nintendo quite a bit of control over when, how and where gamers can play Super Mario Run (even after ponying up the rumored $10 price tag to do so).

Imagine if Nintendo had that kind of control over the original Super Mario Bros on NES? Would there still be gamers able to play it on the original hardware today, or would Nintendo have long shut down the servers forcing ...

Another genre that would have been interesting to see using the settings of Skyrim.

NukaCola, do you think it is a case of no money left for development after acquiring the license? Or a case of lazy development/cash run by publishers looking to ride on the coattails of the license?

Definitely have to agree with you here. Just imagine what else this hardware could be used to power in the future (Nintendo 64 Classic Mini?).

I hope that one is more of a proof of concept that this thing will "run" newer games rather than an actual promotion of the "power".

I would love to see more hand held devices but it seems that if it is not carrying the Nintendo name it is not going to be a success.

Looks like they have already blown past their goal so now it depends on if they miss their release window and have problems like many other tech related Kickstarters.

Mom's are probably the #1 reason old games and stuff in general fetches such a nice price on Ebay.

Now that is the response I like to see to these nostalgia articles. Let us know if you still got it.

I have to agree. Just take the SNES major titles, run them through Unity like this remake of Castlevania and make them 2D over graphics pushed power houses and gamers would flock. At least the older generation they seem to be pushing for, the ones that remember what made the 16-Bit generation awesome.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one to realize something is wrong here.
