Also to keep in mind here, this is programmed in a BASIC interpreter for the Intellivision. Imagine if this was programmed using Machine Language which is much closer to the silicon.
There was definitely a lot of baggage in regards to the Atari brand, wasn't there? Then the public missteps made by the company didn't help either.
I played it on the Super Nintendo and got stuck often, though I was fairly new to this style of first-person dungeon crawl (I spent years playing Alternate Reality: The Dungeon exclusively, an FPRPG from the 80's). Having gone back to Eye of the Beholder more recently, with a better understanding, I found myself liking it a lot, though I still prefer the single character FPRPG myself.
If you like Eye of the Beholder, there are two sequels and countless "similar&quo...
Cobra951, according to that Facebook group, Mr. Mathews has direct contact with Mr. Lowe and it is stated, rather murkily, that Sierra On-Line only bought gold key copies of the Leisure Suit Larry games. We need information on exactly how any contracts were written between the two (Sierra On-Line, or Ken Williams then owner, and Mr. Lowe).
I agree, if Sierra On-Line purchased the rights to the games, source code included, then Mr. Lowe could easily be in the wrong no matte...
It is a convoluted history, of sorts, with Adventure Island initially being a port of Wonder Boy, only later to go on as its own game as the two IP's went their own directions.
Definitely. Sadly, Mr. Lowe probably does not have the money or inclination to prove Activision wrong here in court. I am sure it would be a crap show if history has shown us anything with gaming in court.
I agree. Something like this must be enjoyed on the actual hardware.
The article is aimed at PlayStation in title alone. I mention the fact that Netflix, Steam, and Xbox users also pay this tax (as of last year at the latest some as far back as 2015). PlayStation is the latest to be brought into the fold so to speak, that is why PlayStation got title billing here.
Wow. That is certain crappy of Nintendo.
I am right there with you. There have been new developments concerning this console but I have to verify things before going to print. It could be bad for AtGames, that is for sure.
This is one of three Coleco compatible consoles coming (this one will require an adapter).
Did you see the Castlevania game that was ported to the Spectrum years ago?
It being a patch they can't really do much. Where the damage is done is in attacking the sources of getting the required ROM file.
They could still do something though as this is Nintendo...
That only works if you have a supported device. This is for people that want to be on the cutting edge, test devices to see if they can run it, etc.
Yeah, completely different gameplay styles. I wanted to play the Saturn game but never could find it at a decent price (even close to release it shot up locally).
Exactly. Plus, even though this is not the Atari of old, it is still a company that is valued around $20 million by most reports. While not a lot, it is certainly more financial oomph than they are going to get from a crowdfunding campaign.
Ha! That is a funny one and sad as well at the same time.
So we can link directly to Youtube for submissions now?
On topic, just saw this game pop up in an ad while playing another game. Going to grab it later tonight.
It seems to be a side scrolling action adventure with just left/right movement and a jump button featuring a sweeping camera for dramatic moments.
I agree, it is very much in the same vain as Shining Force and that is a good thing.
