Me too but Capcom ain't listening. :(
Okay, so RoTR will be sandwiched by 2 big games this holiday, its coming next year for the PC (early) and PS4 (holiday) and now they made this announcement before the X1 and 360 version comes out....
Do Square Enix really wants this game to succeed? I can understand the timed exclusivity but the release date and this announcement seems off.
Sadly, Capcom is not Sega.
@Waluigi
My bad bro I got the wrong info/quote on the Witchers 3 dev cost, you are correct. My apologies man~~~
@Death
It was never a question of investment. Ys Net has always been clear that they had investors to back them up.
The question has always been, is Sony putting money into the development of the game? Which created confusion that led to misinformation. This is what the Shenmue community has been trying to clarify since the beginning.
For Sony and Shibuya, they will probably get their money from the sales of the game once its out, like any ot...
@kale
No bro Sony is not funding the development of the game that is why we have PayPal now ala Star Citizen after the KS.
However, Sony and Shibuya Productions will do the marketing and distribution for the PS4 and PC respectively. So Ys Net does not have to worry about that part. So the investor support goes to logistics and ads but not development.
LOL! I see what you did there xD
Kayant is correct this is what we have been trying to tell people, Sony is only involved with the distribution and marketing for the PS4. If Yu and Ys Net gets more funding via PayPal they may bring the game to other consoles, that is why Yu said its under consideration. If Sony put money in the game then it would be an exclusive to the PS4 but that is not the case.
^ its already been clariied what Sony is involved in that is why funding is continued on PayPal ala Star Citizen.
@Waluigi
That includes marketing, remember Google is your friend
Well Witcher 3 cost $13M to make, excluding marketing and Witcher 3 is bigger in scope and deeper in mechanics than Shenmue.
So if Ys Net is going traditional in their approach and build a game with qualities and size similar to Yakuza then the KS funds should be enough.
Marketing and distribution will be done by Sony (PS4) and Shibuya Productions (PC) respectively.
Also, I agree even without the negative press. This KS would not have made it...
I think Pachter just wanted to be honest but even honesty needs to be expressed at the right time and in this case, it just wasn't the right time.
I'm a backer of Shenmue 3 and if for some miracle a Kickstarter for Suikoden VI appears, I will back that too.
This will always be my favorite quote from him.
"On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." - Iwata-san
I think they should decide which consoles the game will appear on and not let it be by popular vote at the end of the kickstarter. I know its extra leg work like Inafune has already explained but that is keeping possible backers from pledging any money too.
Ain't it already going to a console? O_o
He meant the campaign bro, not the game.
People forget that Ys Net is not even a big studio. All they see is Sony. Lol!
Bro, I think Rival Schools is by Capcom~
"All that JRGPG goodness, not enough money and not enough time."
I know bro, I know. >_<
Must be VGChartz data. Lol!
