According to most consumers, those functions don't really constitute a "complete product". If you ask owners of Blu-ray players if they believe that Blu-ray is a complete format, they probably won't say no and point out that internet connectivity is lacking.
Of all the people I know who have HD DVD players (myself included), none of them have ever used PiP or internet connectivity. Fact of the matter is that I don't even know if the movies I have support this stuff.

You'd think that when it comes to storage media, the storage size of the media would be one of the more relevant points. :)
Plus, Blu-ray actually has one more advantage, which is higher bit rate. Or at least allowing for higher bit rate. Blu-ray allows for an audio + video bit rate of 48 Mbps, while HD DVD "only" offers 30,24 Mbps.
EDIT: It always cracks me up when people disagree on facts. Like it's a matter of opinion. :D
Using HDMI is really the only way I know to transfer high definition sound (DTS-HD etc) from my player to my receiver. Do you know of other ways?
Someone bring in the kid from Mercury Rising!
If you actually tried some games instead of letting your PS3 collect dust, maybe you'd feel differently... ;)
People don't usually care about the purely technical aspects and terms, sure, but they do care how things look, right? So what it comes down to is that people do care about the picture, but not how it's created.
And everyone would choose Halo 3 i 1080p over 640p, I'm sure.
I use my PS3 all the time. I play a lot of PS2 titles, but right now I mostly play Heavenly Sword. Soon I will be getting Stranglehold and Ratchet & Clank. I also use it as a Blu-ray-player a lot, since I've bought quite a few movies on Blu-ray.
You're calling me stupid, because of this? You're the one who's bought a machine for several hundred dollars without using it, THAT sounds stupid.
Isn't it a little weird that almost no games on the Xbox 360 are rendered in 1080p? Despite the fact that the console can output that resolution, practically no games at all support that resolution.
I've almost played through Blue Dragon now, and I believe that game is rendered in 1080p. I haven't played any other 1080p titles on the Xbox 360, but if they run as poorly as Blue Dragon, that is a real shame.
What the issue here might be is that this does say a thin...
That proves everything, very convincing.
And you're here because...?
I personally have not played Halo 3, and considering these actually rather disturbing news, I'm probably not going to be buying it. I have a 1080p-projector, and a 130" screen, so the difference would actually be very noticeable for me.
What saddens me about this is that it does really seem like the Xbox 360 has reached its peak, performance wise. Just look at Blue Dragon, that game is rendered in 1080p, and you get lag and slow-down all the time. It's a bit to heavy for t...
I've already got two controllers, but I just might get one of these as well. I'm not one of those people who believe that rumble really adds that much to the gaming experience. Sure, when I switch between my Xbox 360 and my PS3, I notice the rumble on the Xbox 360, but when I'm gaming I'm not really sure if it actually adds anything to the experience as a whole...
My feeling is that sound and picture add a whole lot more, and from that standpoint, I'm more than pleased with my ...
I'm almost starting to wish for the Xbox 360 to get these games, since you'll probably hurt yourself when it doesn't. :(
I consider myself something of av videophile, and from that aspect, I would never ever consider the remote to be an issue when choosing equipment. Many remotes suck, but a videophile really only cares about picture quality etc. And in that area, the PS3 delivers. And then some.
They're japanese, haven't you seen their gameshows? Torture is totally their thing.
;)
I bet this game will be really sweet, a must have for any RE fan. I've completed RE4 19 times now, so it's time for something new! :D
I thought the whole point of being a fan-boy was to never actually prove anything and just whine endlessly about the competition... ;)
You don't have to be so jealous, just get yourself a PS3, and you will also be able to play all the PS3 exclusives. Heavenly Sword looks great, so does Killzone 2, and I bet you will enjoy Drakes Fortune and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction just as much as the rest of us.
FF XIII and MSG4 do look kind of exclusive, since the developers say that they will be, so I really do recommend that you get with the programme and get yourself a PS3, if these titles mean as mu...
It's great that you like it, really, but that would kind of ruin the movie for me, I think. :)
