See my response to inthelab below. That explains it perfectly.
"Console" is a broad term encapsulating many, many consoles spread over 40+ years.
Generation, when referring to technology, refers to a stage of development in hardware.
Wow. Another hateboy article. Look, if you really hate video gaming so much, why do you game? Honestly, if this hobby is such a "burden" on you, then why even write about it.
Move on to something that makes you happy and leave us to our enjoyable hobby. I really wish you enjoyed gaming as much as the rest of us, but claiming things like that [game/ conference/ trailer] was [underwhelming/ overhyped/ a let down] is just more evidence that you are a hateboy.
Everyone's a n00b at one time or another.
Aren't they supposed to finish the game first... you know BEFORE they add modes like Zombies.
Still having many of the launch problems.
Have you played the PT Interactive Trailer (aka Silent Hills) yet?
Turn off the lights. The only hint you really need is that R3 is zoom (and that isn't ruining the game for anyone). Enjoy!
This is why "Opinion Piece" doesn't mean the author gets to say whatever he/she wishes.
Opinions should not be allowed to have factual inaccuracies. That is clear misinformation.
That is like saying "the X1 hacks every electronic device in your house" and then defending my position as an "opinion piece."
We are currently in the 8th generation of consoles.
It definitely pulls you in and it is worth it in the end, which is really screwed up because of how it begins.
Mine are still in perfect condition. In fact, I think this was already addressed 6 months ago by SONY. There was a manufacturing flaw during production and SONY addressed this and replaced them for those affected.

Yes. But does it still take 30 minutes for my Sim to pee?
Seriously, is game time fixed?
So, we get this game for free!?!!!
That is simply Awesome. I just added it to my cart when I saw this news story.
Is this the full game or just the interactive teaser.
Battlefield 4 is a pretty good demo. Has an entire SP campaign with it. The only problem is that the Demo cost $59.99. But I heard you get the whole game this September.
But, Destiny is out in September so that's a tough sell.
I know. Star Citizen is "indie." But, other than being independent of major publishers, it hardly looks or will play like an "indie."
They'll do the same with No Man's Sky.
I don't understand why they don't get that the term "indie" just means independent of giant publishers.
It doesn't mean that the games can't be extraordinary.
He was already added to World of Warcraft.
Blizzard announced it yesterday.
I would expect this to be on the same level as Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. He worked on those two. He didn't work on Dark Souls II, so, what he considers "punishment" may be quite different.
Looks good, really good.
How about Giant Underwater Skeletons! This one just came out of left field for me and I am pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, that "indie" gaming scene is so beneath you. Indie games like Star Citizen, No Man's Sky, and the Mighty No. 9 are certainly shovelware. You can just tell by the quality of the graphics!
All independent means is that they don't have a multi billion dollar publishing house behind them.
